Valentine's Day just passed so I thought for this Battle of the Bands I would bring out things that I love. This one actually came to me before the 15th and isn't a result of somebody passing away. The song has been around for a long time, I just discovered it a couple of years ago and a few miles southwest of New Orleans. I discovered it at a festival I loved which supported a cause I love. I also loved the musicians performing. Enough with the love fest an let the battle begin!
The rules are simple I pick a song and present a couple of bands battling it out with the song. You pick the one you like best by casting your vote in the comments. Why you voted the way you did and other comments are always welcomed.

Gosh this is a bit of a choice. I really like the tempo of Tab Benoit but Wayne Toups' voice is very nice. My vote goes to Wayne.
Good battle, Mike. I love this song.
Glad you loved the song! I have your vote for Wayne!
Also a tough choice for me. Both are decent repros of the original.
Guess I'll have to go with the squeezebox version. I like Cajun style music. I'll vote for Wayne Toups.

Hi, Mike!
You presented three fine versions of a refreshingly different song and I enjoyed them all. The Le Roux recording would be my Pick-to-Click if I could vote for it. Choosing between the other two was difficult, but I think I'm gonna go with Wayne Toups. I like Wayne's accordion playing, an instrument I don't hear often, and his singing was more passionate. I enjoyed the parade of New Orleans ladies sashaying by in the Tab Benoit video, but Wayne "tells it like it is" in authentic Zydecajun style. I vote for Wayne!
I'm going to bust your shutout by voting for Tab Benoit. I really liked the mellow, laidback style, and I confess understanding the words didn't hurt;)
I am not much for this song overall but I prefer Wayne Toups because he kept my attention more especially with the instruments he used. The 2nd one was just background for me
Both versions are really good. I like them both but I like Wayne Toups better. Love the instrumentation. Sounds authentic New Orleans. Please give my vote to Wayne.
Good battle!

Wayne Toups by a country mile. Nice BATTLE, Mike.
I'll go with Wayne's version. I like his voice better.
Despite not understanding the lyrics, I vote for the first song, Wayne. The second one was good too, despite the stalkerish video. LOL
Vote for Wayne Toups
Voting for Tab Benoit. Not close.
As Robin mentioned, it helps to understand the words. If I wonder what language you're singing in, you probably won't be getting my vote.
First I want to apologize for not making the rounds last battle. With all of the musicians passing, and some personal issues on the home front, I was struggling just to make it through my days. Before I knew it, the battle had passed. So sorry for not stopping by.
Second, this is a really beautiful song. I don't know that I have heard it before. I think both artists gave it a great performance, and it's a tough one to choose between. Ultimately, I think I am going to go with Wayne Toups.

Mike, both versions are nice, but I felt Wayne's emotions in his words more than I did with his contender. I'm giving my vote to Wayne Toupe. Thanks for sharing two nice renditions of a beautiful song.
I'm voting for Tab Benoit - for one thing, I can't even get the Wayne Toupe one to play. But I'm already familiar with Tab's version and know that I like it, so....I'll just go with that one.
I vote for Tab Benoit because he makes me want to be a New Orleans lady.
Love,
Janie
I'll vote for WAYNE, even though the song went on too long - by about a minute and a half.
The second one was OK musically, but not as good as the first. (And that had to be one of the dumbest music videos I've ever seen.)
