Battle of the Bands Winner: Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai and Chad Smith

A super group consisting of Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai and Chad Smith won my Battle of the Bands over Type O Negative convincingly. No shut out. Not really a surprise since Glenn Hughes was in Deep Purple for a time.

Here is Deep Purple way back in 1974 with David Coverdale on vocals..Glenn is on bass and vocals as well the song is called "Burn"

Here is a pic of Glenn Hughes performing live with Black Country Communion..

Steve Vai is a great guitarist here he performs "Tender Surrender"..

Chad Smith is a drummer for The Red Hot Chili Peppers and is almost as good as Will Ferrell...

Red Hot Chili Peppers.."Under the Bridge"

Here is Glenn Hughes with Jason Bonham and Joe Bonamassa in a group called Black Country Communion...the song "Black Country"

Thanks for visiting I hope you enjoyed! Congrats to Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai and Chad Smith!

Hi, Mike! Thanks for reporting the results. Even though my horse didn't win it placed second and there's nothing wrong with that. Thanks for posting the related tuneage. It was fun to watch Coverdale and all the rest. I have a Whitesnake post in the pipeline, Tawny included. :)

Mike, it's not only a pleasure to hear Steve Vai play, but watching him do "Tender Surrender" is like the definition of the song itself! I see my vote went towards the winning group! Yea team!

I'm glad to see Hughes, Vai, and Smith take the win. Personally I didn't care for the other band AT ALL.

If I'm not mistaken that's Steve Vai playing one of those guitars in the BOTB logo and if I'm still not mistaken, in the movie that still is taken from he actually does play the parts of both of the guitars in that still. check with Mr. McCarthy on that and he can clarify if I've got it wrong.

MIKE, are you sure that was DEEP PURPLE doing 'BURN' in that video? I think it may have been SPINAL TAP.

I'm kidding. Once upon a time I was a big Deep Purple fan.

Yep, FarAwayEyes got it all right. In the BOTB logo, that's STEVE VAI (character name Jack Butler) slinging the red guitar. He's participating in a guitar duel in Hell against a character named Eugene Martone. But for real, it's STEVE VAI playing BOTH guitars, the red and the white. So, secretly, VAI was having a duel against himself, but we're not supposed to know that ("Hollywood magic", ya know?)

Incidentally, the movie is called 'CROSSROADS' (from 1986?), and if you've never seen it, I recommend it very, very highly! I own the DVD and probably watch 'CROSSROADS' at least once a year. Great movie for a music fan and especially a Blues (and Robert Johnson) fan.

Enjoyed all the bonus music here. ☺ Even though my choice didn't win, I adore Steve Vai. Great battle and I'm looking forward to your next one!
