Diana Krall

I don't write as I often as I used too. I am not reviewing concerts and theatre productions on a regular basis anymore. I've started to see more shows. Just haven't found the right opportunities that fit my writing and my regular job. One of the things I miss about writing regular reviews is it gave me plenty to blog about here. I used to call it "shameless self promotion." However, I always strived to add a little bit more to my blog. Perhaps it was videos that couldn't be added to the review, maybe an explanation of my thoughts.

In that spirit since I still write for the Examiner covering live music in the Washington area I decided to blog about Diana Krall who is one of the most successful jazz artist of my time. I wrote a preview article for her upcoming concert at the Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland later this week. You can read it here. Her latest album "Wallflowers" sounds like a potential goldmine for my blogs' monthly Battle of the Bands series I participate in.

Below she performs "Walk on By"

The Strathmore is a venue I have reviewed shows at several times in the past. I can't praise the venue enough for the great sound and easy access. I reviewed Diana Krall when she performed at another famous venue Wolf Trap in 2012. You can read the review here at DC Theater and Arts.

Here she performs "Temptation" in Canada...

In the end it is always about the music and I do enjoy sharing it.

"I'm A Little Mixed Up"

Hope you enjoyed my blog on Diana Krall and if she is coming to a venue near you and you enjoy jazz do yourself a favor and go see her perform!

Willie Nelson

Seeing Willie Nelson in concert would be cool, seeing the country legend in a club setting would be unreal. Tonight some lucky fans in Washington, D.C. well get to see Willie Nelson perform at the 9:30 Club. I wrote a preview article at Examiner which you can read here. It was featured at Examiner which was nice. Fans may want to check out the slideshow and video about him getting inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.

Of course my blog will include more music since that is how  I roll. This is one of my daughters favorites the classic "On The Road Again"

Opening on this tour is his Willie's son Lukas Nelson. Here is a video of him performing..

This is one of my favorite Willie Nelson songs ...

What's your favorite Willie Nelson song? Ever seen him concert? Would you want to see him perform in a club?

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for visiting and I will be back soon!

Ringo Starr playing a Sold Out Show

I wrote an article about Ringo Starr and his All-Starr band performing a sold out show at Wolf Trap outside Washington, D.C. tonight. You can read the article here and there is a slide show of pictures too! What a year it has been for Ringo to perform at the Grammy's and then the Grammy special. Which he follows with a never ending tour.

He makes it same easy  but he sings another tune..

It is like he is fab once more...

Creating more memories than just old photographs..

Yes I wrote an article just to have an excuse to blog about Ringo, but can you blame me?

Blues Examiner of Harpers Ferry Up and Running

The new venture with the Examiner is officially up and running. My first article is a review of the Reggae Got Da Blues show at The Tap House in Charles Town, West Virginia.  The link should take you to the article. The review is about a show on Saturday, where Reggae singer Lenny Kurlou and his band Arkives were joined by local blues guitarist Paul Pfau.

It was a great night of music. The band played a long time with the time change. My goal is to shine a spot light on the great blues music in the Tri-State area. It should be interesting since I will be competing with the Washington, DC area.

Keeping busy in the writing world. I have a lot going on I will try to keep you posted.

Blues Examiner of Harpers Ferry

A new day, a new month, a new writing project. I am going to write for the Examiner. The topic will be blues and the region will be Harpers Ferry. ( I will push the limits to that to at least the tri-state area and beyond).

I have covered some local blues events over the past year. If anyone wants to take a peak I will place the links below.
