A to Z: B is for Bad Company

Just rolling into this A to Z thing. I kicked things off with Free's  "All Right Now"  so following up with Bad Company is chronologically correct. At least in Paul Rodgers musical career.

Starting things off with Bad Company by Bad Company.

The next one is "Shooting Star" is one of my favorites...

Sometimes "I Feel Like Making Love"

Ill leave you with "Gone, Gone, Gone"

See you soon with C!

Blogging from A to Z Challenge 2019: Theme Reveal

I have been doing the A to Z Challenge since year two. Most of the time I just wing it coming  up with a new post each day. Most of my posts relate to entertainment, mostly music. I throw in some movies, theatre news, celebrity birthdays and deaths. I sprinkle in some sports an book posts from time to time. Maybe a creative writing piece or something personal once in a while. That is how my blog is the other 11 months, I just follow the alphabet in April.

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary Blogging Theme Reveal

This year I am going to have a theme to my A to Z Challenge. My theme will be about my Mom using primarily my usual content with a few twists. I may stray from my theme from time to time but we will see.

Only a few days until the start of the challenge! If you are doing the challenge I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to leave a link in the comments and I will check out your blog in April!

Blogging from A to Z 2018: B is for Baseball

My Monday's Music Moves Me post certainly delivers a soundtrack for the boys of summer playing baseball. Welcome to my blog and my A to Z challenge. Today's theme is baseball.

The 2018 baseball has just started so the timing is appropriate for a blog post on baseball. Baseball has been called "America's Pastime." Where I live college football is probably king among sports. I'm pretty passionate about my favorite NFL team. College basketball is fun and March Madness is exciting. I could go on with other sports but baseball is special.

As my proceeding post showed there are great songs about baseball. It has a storied history. IT is a thinking persons sport. There is strategy and enough stats to appeal to the most analytical, number crunching nerd (and I know I have resembled that last comment.)

If  that "stats to appeal to the most analytical, number crunching nerd" appeals to you I would highly recommend the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis.

Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game

As I stated baseball is probably the most storied sport. There are so many books written about baseball. I just entered search at Goodreads and it came back with over 12,400 books! I've rad a few and have a few laying around waiting for me to read.

If books were not enough to make it storied enough how about movies.

"Field of Dreams"

"Bull Durham"

Even away players work there way up to the major league resembles working your way up the corporate ladder. Young athletes work there way through the minor leagues trying to make it to the Majors. Of course going to a game is fun. Minor league games are very interesting and have quite a few family events. While Major League games give you the big time experience.

A view to baseball field..

Well that's my post on baseball and the letter B. Tune into tomorrow as my focus will go on to the letter C.

The Day Before the 2016 A to Z Challenge

No theme reveal here. Maybe one year. I just blog like I normally do accept I'll follow the A to Z format. It is all pretty much flying by the seat of my pants.

This time around the challenge appears more daunting to me. I've done the challenge each year starting back in 2011, so I know I can do it. Time is the battle for me. I know I will have at least 28 posts in April. Two Battle of the Band results and 26 A to Z posts. I know these posts will compete against time for work, time for family, time for other writing projects, time for other pursuits so time is the huge obstacle for the challenge. If you are doing the challenge what is your biggest obstacle?

If you want to join the insanity, I mean the fun you can still sign up here. The challenge has over 1700 bloggers signed up. I'm in there at #640. What's your number? I wonder how many will finish?

I do like the challenge of the challenge. I really enjoy meeting all the bloggers. I end up following a few more and some even follow me. The math with 1700 people doing 26 blog posts that is over 44,000 A to Z blog posts. I will only be able to visit so many.

Are you ready? Can you wait one more day? Thoughts on the challenge please share!

A to Z Challenge: Reflections on the 2015 Challenge

Overall thoughts?

In the four years I have been doing the A to Z: Challenge it has grown quite a bit! Over 1500 is a lot of bloggers. I'm sure I have only reached a fraction of those bloggers. The visitors, that I know, who have stopped by my blog I have visited. The ones who are on my feed (okay those are mostly the same). I was able to visit a few sites from the A to Z facebook page. Kudos for the page! Also I have been working my way through the sign up list on the A to Z page to visit different blogs. It is a slow process. I will definitely have plenty of blogs to visit during an A to Z; road trip. Has the challenge grown too big?Visiting some of the blogs I found a few people didn't finish the challenge. I can certainly understand that. Those blogs and writers reminded me the challenge is truly a challenge. Is there a blog I should not miss? Feel free to let me know in the comments.

Thoughts on my blog and the challenge

As a writer of my blog I found the challenge did help me find a balance among topics I had been searching for in my blog. Like always I tried to keep my posts true to what readers may find on my blog the other 11 months of the year. Two of my most successful posts of the challenge also featured photography by me so I was pleased with that. The other two most successful were my Battle of the Bands post but they double dip blog hops.

What I liked the most?

I was able to stumble across a couple of my old writing friends in the challenge. Probably through my own fault I lost track of what they were doing so it was nice to visit their blogs. One of them is Phillip Veghese Ariel's writings and another is Julie Du Pre's Precious Monsters. I was also a winner of Liz A's Laws of Gravity blogs. Everyone likes to win! Well it has been a great challenge and now another 11 months until the next A to Z; Challenge.

It is a Blog Hopping double helping at my blog today. Today marks the first day of the A to Z Challenge.

I am doing the Battle of the Bands because this is what I would do on any first of the month. I like the blog hop. My blog isn't changing for the A to Z challenge. What you see during the challenge is just how my blog goes.

The battles take place on the first and 15th and winners will be announced on the 7th and 21st. I will normally post the winner in the comments. Of course have fun and enjoy!

Today is April 1st sometimes referred to as April Fools Day! April starts with A so it fits with the A to Z: Challenge.

J.R. BaileyRudy Clark and Ken Williams wrote a song called "Everybody Plays the Fool."  I of course play the fool everyday. I don't have the original song but the contestants will be the first top 40 version of the song and the hit version which I was first introduced to his song. There is a 19 year gap between the two songs.

Contestant One: The Main Ingredient

Contestant Two: Aaron Neville

Aaron also starts with an A as well keeping with the A to Z Theme of A.

You vote by leaving your vote in the comments. Thanks so much for visiting my foolish blog! Happy April Fools Day to all and I will see you Thursday with a post dealing with B!

My post will say March 31, but it really is April 1, 2015 and after midnight, So here it goes..

A to Z: Bird, Arlee

Today I continue the A to Z: Challenge with the letter B. Today I am going to play it forweard a bit and give tribute to Arlee Bird. His last name is Bird and it fits for today. I know a few folks played tribute to him on the first day, but the second day might be more of a surprise.

Any way he is the one who created the event. Now it has grown so big, become so fun and successful he needed to recruit a whole team to run it. But without Bird we might not have this..

The A to Z blogging challenge is a lot of fun and it is addicting too. This is my third year of doing the challenge and I keep coming back.

Arlee Bird also has his own blog called "Tossing it Out" which you can visit here. Thanks for stopping by and I will be back with a new post on Wednesday with smething related to the letter C.
