The Month in Concerts: Joe Satriani

For my second concert of the month I went to another Saenger Theatre this time in Pensacola. The artist this time around was Joe Satriani who was dong a career spanning tour. Joe Satriani has been nominated for 15 Grammy Awards

He played a two set show with no opening act and played well over two hours.

The merchandise tables also sold Cds by the sideman who were performing with him, which I though was pretty cool. It was an enjoyable date night for me.

Happy Birthday Sinbad!

Today Sinbad turns 58! I've seen him perform a couple of times and  I always enjoy his show. His comedy isn't filled with vulgarity just humor!

Here's a taste..Carnivores and Vegetarians...

A Woman Who Understands the Signs of a Stroke..

On Lopez Tonight..

Have you ever seen Sinbad? Have you seen him in a movie or TV show? Do you have a favorite bit? Do you have a favorite memory? Feel free to share in the comments.

I'll be back soon with a new post!

A to Z: Guitar and Piano

Last week I was able to review a concert that featured just a guitarist and pianist. Only two instruments were used during the concert a grand piano and a classical guitar. The instruments were in good hands as the guitarist was Al Di Meola and the piaist was two time Grammy Award winner Gonzalo Rubalcaba. You can read my review here.

Here they are performing together at a different show...

Here is Gonzalo Rubalcaba prforming by himself...

Here is Al Di Meola...

and another performance of them together...

Well I hope you enjoy and I will be back with a new post tomorrow,,,

Melissa Etheridge

Friday I went to the Music Center at the Strathmore to see Melissa Etheridge. The venue has some of the best sound I have ever heard and is easy to get too. You can read my review here.I found part of the show n youtube so you can watch and listen below...

I must admit she does put on a long show and she enjoys it more than most artists! I know she is touring in support of her new album but she played most of it during the concert.Thankfully, the new songs sounded pretty good. Here is the title track of her new album, I chose a live version from Long Beach which happened about a month before the show I attended...

There are three videos posted with my review. I'm just adding some different ones to my blog post. Another new song of hers I enjoyed was...

It was a good show feel free to check out my review. I'll have a new post up tomorrow about the show I went to on Saturday so stay tuned!

Elvis 35 Years Gone

Last year on this date I posted about my Elvis memories or lack there of..you can read my post here. Did have U2 and Robert Plant featured. One memory I did not share was my Dad took my Mom to see Elvis in Hampton. This was a big deal since my Dad wasn't big into concerts.

I don't know what year it was but this is the closing number from his 1972 show there...

Hard to believe I have never seen a show in the Hampton Colosseum. I've gone to shows in Virginia Beach and Portsmouth.

More from the show this is Elvis coming out on stage and the first number...

So last year I shared my Elvis memories, this year I shared my parents..(I think)
