Monday's Music Moves Me: Elton John
Well I did see the new Elton John movie this weekend and since today's theme is a freebie why not Elton John songs!
"Rocketman"
"Your Song"
"Tiny Dancer "
"Crocodile Rock"
"I'm Still Standing"
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight"
There is a good six pack of songs for Monday's Music Moves Me!
I loved EJ's older mewsic! I have such fond memories rollerskating to 'Crocodile Rock' and 'Bennie and the Jets'. American Idol contestants purrformed some of Elton's songs (actually every one of your shares) a couple of weeks ago. I was disappointed with most of the covers, too. Reinventing a song to make one's own doesn't mean it's gonna be better but the judges went crazy over every cover. *smack forehead* Thanks for sharing the 4M dance floor with us this morning. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
Sir Elton John is perhaps my favorite artist. At one time I had eight of his albums in my collection, including the soundtrack from the movie "Friends" (a modern Romeo & Juliet flick) Every time The Voice or American Idol feature an Elton John theme night all it does is reinforce how insanely talented he is and how inadequate the contestants are at performing his songs. I don't have a favorite from his songbook. I have several and you hit on some of them. Rocket Man is one of my favorites. Love Song came from the Tumbleweed Connection album which also included Burn Down the Mission, Where to No St. Peter, and Ballad of a Well Known Gun. Thanks for sharing the music of one of the most talent artists of our time. Have a blessed week.
I didn't fully appreciate Elton John until I was in college during his "Philadelphia Freedom" years. Then I caught up with all the songs I had bypassed. Good set!
Elton is great and I still remember him on Sonny & Cher Show. I love his "Benny and the Jets" which Cher sang. I recall his crazy glasses and one had windshield wipers on them. How was the movie? How was Egerton in the film? I heard he is excellent in his role
I LOVE Elton John! Have seen him twice in concert: once in Washington DC and once in Austin. Each show was amazing. In fact one of my first album memories was his Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album. I think it was actually the first full album I ever bought: usually I was buying 45s.
So, don't leave us hanging: what did you think of the movie?? I so want to go as soon as I am able. Hopefully it's as good as I think it will be. Would love to hear your review...
Love Sir Elton; had three or four of his albums back in the LP days, have some CDs. Have to admit that his 90's music doesn't do much for me, but I would love loved to have seen him in concert.
