This blog spot is the home to my ramblings. I am a free lance writer. Most of my work goes on Associated Content. Sometimes I write what is on my mind, sometimes I plug some of my writing, and sometimes a combination of the two. So, sit back read, enjoy, and we will see where it goes.
I'm back for my fifth installment of Battle of the Bands. Here is how it works:
Listen to the song clips in the blog post. In the comment section vote for the one you like the best. Feel free to explain why you voted the way you did. The battles take place on the first and 15th and winners will be announced on the 7th and 21st. I will normally post the winner in the comments. Of course have fun and enjoy! If you are still looking for more musical fun after you vote, you can check out these sites for more battles:
I am changing it up this time will have five choices. Originally I was just going to limit myself to Pink versus Miley Cyrus. I figured everyone who entered would think I lost my mind or wondered what the heck I was on if I did that. However, I am curious what you think of the covers.
I wanted to get Joan Baez singing "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" written by Anne Bredon since it is considered the original version but I can't find it on youtube!
I added The Plebs version because the arrangement is different. Also I noticed looking at the 45 in the video, they didn't credit Anne Bredon just like Zeppelin didn't do at first...
Here is The Association doing there version of the song...
Here is Miley Cyrus performing this classic song...
Pink rocks out to this song...
Obviously Pink and Miley pulled from Led Zeppelin's version..
Ironic Battle Number 5 and I share 5 songs. There it is, enjoy, vote and comment. Please visit the others and do the same. If you are doing your own battle let me know as well!
Today Weird Al Yankovic turns 54. He has earned his fame doing song parodies and his perhaps the most famous in his genre. It is good today is his birthday because we all need a smile or laugh.
His parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" launched him on the scene, his version was "Eat It"
He covered Michael Jackson's "Bad" with a song called "Bad"
He reworked Madonna's "Like A Virgin" into "Like A Surgeon"
Today's artists are not exempt from Weird Al, he reworked Lady Gaga's "Born this Way" into "Perform this Way"
Miley Cyrus "Party in the USA" was reworked into "Party in the CIA"
He has made parodies of songs n many genres of pop music and through many generations. Weird Al is still going strong creating new parodies and we wish him a happy birthday!
Bob Dylan turns 72 today. How do you honor a man who has been covered, written many classic songs, has his own satalite radio show?
Reunite Guns and Roses to play this..
Well that's not going to happen. Make him cringe with Miley Cyrus covering him...
Here is John Mayer covering "Don't Think Twice"
Yes, I am having fun selecting some covers but I want to make sure they are different from other Bob covers I have included in past posts. Plus with artists like John and Miley is shows he is still touching younger generations of musicians and his legacy grows.Below is the man himself singing Happy Brthday and performing "Like A Rolling Stone" with Tom Petty's Heartbreakers...
Here Neil Young covers Blowin in the Wind...
and here is Norah Jones
Happy Birthday Bob Dylan! I hope everyone enjoys the music and I will be back soon with a new post
