Monday Music Moves Me: Hopping Aboard the Train (Freebie)

I'm new to this particular blog hop. I've joined one or two here and there so I get the idea. Still I am not exactly sure what I am doing or what I am getting into. However, that has never stopped me before.

I think I am suppose to share a series of songs sharing a common theme. This week being a freebie, I am assuming it could be anything. The host X-mas Dolly had a train theme going on the wording of her blog.

I am going to stick with a train theme, since I am just boarding this "Crazy Train"..

Ozzy Osbourne certainly  has this train rocking but "Casey Jones" is driving this train..

Another ode to Jerry Garcia in this time between his birthday and his death.

Let's keep it rocking Southern style with this Blackfoot Classic "Train, Train"

Maybe this train I too Rocking, maybe I should have taken the "A Train" with Duke                              Ellington?

Let Steve Goodman sing about the ride on "The City of New Orleans"

It's just a "Runaway Train: with Soul Asylum..

Dolly it's a "Love Train"

 I can't stop this Train..,The Train Kept A Rollin'

Well I hope you enjoyed the ride! I hope to be a regular commuter on this musical train. So stayed tuned. Please visit the others on this hop in the side bar!

Gone 60 years: Django Reinhardt

On this day in 1953 Django Reinhardt collapsed and died on his way home from a gig. He was the victim of a brain hemorrhage. He is considered to be one of the greatest guitarists to ever play the guitar. He died at the age of 43. Django left behind quite a musical legacy. Amazingly he only played his solos with two fingers on his fretting hand due to an injury that left his other fingers paralyzed. Maybe it is just a testimony to his incredible will to over come. The same accident had left his leg paralyzed. (It was a fire when he was 18) Django refused to let them amputate and he was walking, with a cane, within a year. Well enough of my rambling it is better to listen and watch his musical legacy...

Here he is with Duke Ellington.."Honeysuckle Rose"...

Here is someones list of best solos..remember he just uses two fingers,,,

Here he performs "Dark Eyes" in New York...

He did spend a lot of his youth living in Gypsy camps, so the Gypsy life influenced his music as well as he developed a gypsy jazz..

Here is Willie Nelson covering Django..

Remembering Django Reinhardt and celebrating his music, I will be back soon with a new post..

Joe Jackson

If you don't know who Joe Jackson is, you probably know one of his songs. This song was probably his biggest hit..

Anyway he has a new album out which is him covering Duke Ellington and on the tour he blends his new songs with his older material and it works great. You can read my review here.I was able to see him at the Strathmore Concert Hall which is a wonderful place to catch a concert. here is Joe covering Duke Ellington with Iggy Pop...

It was really cool to hear Duke Ellington played side by side with classic pop/rock like this...

Well it was a very busy weekend for me and the early part of this week was  used to finish up the honey Do list and write the reviews but it was fun!
