Battle of the Bands: Won't Get Fooled Again

It is April Fool's Day so I thought I would go with The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."

The Who's version not part of the contest...

Contender One: Van Halen

Contender Two: Ann Wilson

Who is it gonna be? Van Halen or Ann Wilson?

How many April Fool pranks did you fall for?

Have fun, let me know which version you like the best I will get the results up in a week or so.

Both versions are very good, but my preference weighs more toward Ann Wilson in this round.

I love The Who and that's a great song! Ann Wilson is one of my all-time favourite rock singers, but I have to say, her version sounded a little "thin", if that makes sense. Could have used a couple of backup singers IMO. Sammy, Eddie and the boys' raucous version was more in the spirit of things. A vote for Van Halen!

I have to give it to Ann. I like her style better than Van Halen.

Haven't seen you in some time! I prefer Van Halen's approach over Ann Wilson's by a pretty fair margin.

I was pleasantly surprised by Ann's rendition. But Van Halen gets my vote!
Great battle!

Howdy, MIKE!

This was an excellent song choice for the April Fools' Day theme! It's also my favorite song ever recorded by The Who; it always gets me fired up and ready to revolt against... pick a cause, almost any cause!

I thought both of these covers were good. The sound quality of the Ann Wilson recording was obviously clearer and less muddied than in the Van Halen video; however, I still think I gotta "bote" VAN HALEN. The nature of the song just makes it seem more organic when it's a bunch of blokes doing it, and I appreciated how much fun the boys were obviously experiencing in playing that.

My brother, the infamous Judge Al Bondigas, happened to be in the living room when I played these two videos, so I axed him which version he was "rulin'" for and he said, "The first one. It just sounded better to me."

So there you has it:
1 "vote" for VAN HALEN
and 1 "rulin'" for VAN HALEN.

Please chalk up two for those rambunctious blokes.

Hey Mike,

I'm sorry for not getting over to vote on time. I don't know if you're still tallying votes, if you are then I'll toss mine in for Van Halen!
