David Crosby passed away earlier this year. I thought I would pay tribute to him with a song like I did Jeff Beck last go around. A song from Crosby, Stills and Nash would make sense, but I thought I would go farther back to The Byrds. A group Cros founded and pick a song he co-wrote.
The Byrds "Eight Miles High"
Contender One: Roxy Music
Contender Two: Tom Petty &The Heartbreakers
Tell me who you like best in the comments Roxy Music or Tom Petty and I will close the polls around the 8th and announce a winner.

RIP David Crosby! The music world has lost some big ones so far this year. :(
Eight Miles HIgh is an old favourite, and, while both covers were good, Tom Petty stayed truer to the original, so that's where my vote is going.
I started a new Blogger site for BOTB. Find my entry here:

This is a great Battle. I like either of these a lot and maybe more than the Byrds original.
Petty's version is very true to the original and super good.
However I really appreciated the psychedelia of Roxy and fell into a groove trance with it.
Give a vote to Roxy Music.

I love the original. I couldn't get into Roxy so my vote goes to Tom Petty who stayed trier to the original which I prefer.

That bass player for Roxy Music combines music with an aerobic workout.
While I am not a fan of Crosby nor The Byrds, I *am* a Tom Petty fan, and that's where my vote lands.

Hi Mike!
While not a big fan of Crosby, I always liked the Byrds - especially this song. Both contenders are good, but I really liked Tom Petty's version best.
I've always been a big Roxy Music fan. Give them my vote!
Fun Fact: I have an older brother that about 20 years ago could pass as Cros. Even his driver's license had people questioning if it was really him.
I'm voting for Roxy Music here.
Stop by my place and vote for my latest installment in the Call Me! battle.

Hey Mike,
I'm probably late for this battle but I'm giving my vote to Tom Petty. Incidentally anytime you have music to share, feel free to add your link to the 4M party. Don't even worry if we're on a theme week. That doesn't matter to me. People just like the music regardless. ;)
