Pete Rose was a 17-time all-star, a three-time World Series Champion, MVP and rookie of the year. Known as Charlie Hustle as a kid I thought he played the game the right way. He is the all-time hit leader.
He would be in the Hall of Fame except for a gambling controversy. Should he be forgiven? Was his punishment too severe?

Pete was a great player, and I see no reason they shouldn't elect him to the Hall of Fame, just like I think Shoeless Joe Jackson should be in it. Like it or not, Pete is the all-time hits champion, just like Barry Bonds is the all-time home run champion (and I live in Atlanta where Henry Aaron played).
