My latest Battle of the Bands has me selecting a country classic "Seminole Wind" by Jon Anderson. You can listen to the original here:
John Anderson "Seminole Wind"
The way the battle works, I pick two contenders and you choose which one you like the best. You choose by telling me in the comments. I count up the votes and announce a winner in a bout a week or so.
Contender One: JJ Grey and Mofro
Contender Two: Shea
I hope you enjoyed the song. Tell me which version you like best JJ or Shea.
Thanks I will see you soon!

Somewhere along the line I guess I missed this "classic". Nice song. JJ's version sounded pretty true to the original. Shea took it a step further.
Give my vote to Shea.

I prefer the bigger, richer, badder sound of JJ GREY and the MOFrOS! And, hey, who says you can't put some Jazz trumpet on a Country song?!
Shea sure was taking an awful lot of serious racial pride in a song written by a Country artist surnamed "Anderson". Does a name get any Whiter than "John Anderson"? People crack me up!!

I'm voting for Shea, because the sound was better and I didn't like JJ's voice.
I really enjoyed Shea's version. Great song!
This is a tough one but I will go with Shea because her voice is so powerful and beautiful. I did like the instruments and styling in the other version but the voice was just ok so I went with the lady
Mike,
Beautiful song. I prefer the original but since that one doesn't count then I think I'll give my vote to JJ GREY & MOFRO. This cover is a closer match to the original. Shea has solid vocals but I didn't feel her passion in the song as much as I did with her contender.
Stop by when you can to vote in my Piece of My Heart #BoTB showdown 3rd round!
Okay, I have never really loved this song because I've never been a huge John Anderson fan...truth in reporting here, lol.
Soooo hard to choose on this one. Why am I struggling? I guess I'm down with JJ GREY & MOFRO...however, a light Seminole wind would blow me over to Shea, too.
Your wishy-washy friend,

Oh, boy. This is so hard! But my vote goes to J.J. Grey and Mofro. I loved Shea's actual explanation and the instruments used at the beginning of her version, but I just didn't love her voice or the way her version of the song sounded.
Great battle!
Kim
