R.I.P Fats Domino

New Orleans musician Fats Domino  passed away today at the age of 89.

It is a shame that another music legend has passed away. "Ain't That A Shame"

I first heard of Fats Domino through a famous Led Zeppelin bootleg I discovered in 1989 called "Live on Blueberry Hill" named after this song...

He did a lot of walking songs like "I Want to Walk You Home"

But he might walk you to New Orleans..

He was a rock pioneer, a great selling artist and a musical treasure who will be missed.

Monday's Music Moves Me: Voice of the Wetlands

elcome to my rather late Monday's Music Moves Me post. I turned off the real world and went on a journey of three days of fantastic music, delicious food, and some other adventures. Alligators, fishing, and several hundred miles of driving.

Friday night I really wanted to see The Trio featuring the legendary bassist George Porter Jr with one of the best jazz drummers from New Orleans Johnny Vidacovich and guitarist Brian Stoltz.

They did not disappoint. The "Guitar Fight" that followed was a joy to watch. I discovered some new to me musicians like Jonathon Boogie Long. Here he is at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2013..

Johnny Sansone also known as Jumpin' Johnny is a multi-skilled musician. Singer-Songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and accordion player. I really enjoy his songs. He was slanted to the side stage. He did join in with other artists such as Tab Benoit on the big stage. He played a set that rocked more and his energy level was on high.

Johnny with Tab Benoit and Mike Zito below..

Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles followed on the side stage..

Image may contain: 1 person, on stage, playing a musical instrument and night

Of course Tab Benoit..."Medicine"

I could go on and on. Tab headlined Saturday but he played the late night ramble on both Friday and Saturday. Joined many others such as Papa John Gros and Louisiana's LeRoux. The later also featured Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie fame.

Like I said Music was Turned on.

Monday's Music Move Me Delayed

I will have my 4M post later on Monday. Im the evening. Too much music this weekend.

Battle of the Bands: Tulsa Time

I  gained inspiration for this month's Battle of My Bands through a post I did last month marking the passing of Country Music's gentle giant Don Williams. I thought of strange degrees of separation. He died on September 8, 22017 in Mobile, Alabama. About 6--70 miles away from me and a town that I visited on September 9.  I became familiar with his work through an artist I am a fan of which is not that strange for me. I become familiar with a lot of artists that way.

Anyway his song "Tulsa Time"

Contestant One: Reba McEntire

Contestant Two: Eric Clapton

Wrapping up this post on my phone. Keeping it simple. Vote for either Eric or Reba in the comments. I will count up the votes and pick a winner soon.

Monday;'s Music Moves Me: Autumn Edition

Robert Plant and Alison Krause "Killing the Blues"

The lyrics in the first verse capture the romance of the season.

But Fall is more than just leaves, sometimes there is the cold "November Rain"

Of course, "Ramble On" combines Autumn Leaves and Rain

Well I have a lot of travel planned this month, but I should be blogging before November but this is a great song..

Hope you enjoy and see you soon!

R.I.P Tom Petty

My bucket lists of artists I want to see keeps getting shorter without me getting to see the performer.  I became a fan of Tom Petty somewhere in the 80s.  Probably from "Damn the Torpedoes" to "Full Moon Fever" where my peak Tom Petty eras.

However my favorite song was  later tune. A song of hope. Fitting for a week filled with news from Las Vegas, Petty passing and whatever might be going wrong.

                                                     "Something Good Coming"

He showed us "Even the Losers Get Lucky" and we are all losers now..

+

His music was done with a"Southern Accents"

Life is still "Jammin' Me"

I could go on and on. I might come back with a part two. Tom Petty will be missed.

R.I.P 59, 500 others I wish a speedy recovery

Entering some concert venues now days is almost like boarding a plane. Metal detectors, emptying your pockets, being patted down are all inconveniences  concert goers have to go through.  Look at the headlines in recent years about violent attacks and you can see why they are needed. Now this  latest attack from a hotel room near a venue ends up killing 59 and wounding 500.

59 people killed and 500 injured from one person. Shocking! A tragedy. Obviously my prayers and thoughts are with those killed or injured. It is also with their friends and family.  Does it concern me? Yes, it could be me, one of my friends or love ones being killed or injured.

Terrorist, crazy people, criminals pick your labels if you want. The labels don't change results. Don't heal the wounded or bring back the dead either.
