This blog spot is the home to my ramblings. I am a free lance writer. Most of my work goes on Associated Content. Sometimes I write what is on my mind, sometimes I plug some of my writing, and sometimes a combination of the two. So, sit back read, enjoy, and we will see where it goes.
Well tonight was the last show by The Allman Brothers Band. I shared the news during the A to Z Challenge in this post. Also the post has more music!
How do you celebrate an ending? By looking back and celebrating what is now a legacy.
The band had "Dreams"even back in 1969..
Now the band is going "Into the Mystic" covering Van Morrison on one of their final shows 10/25/2014...
Even now it is hard to find a band that has a better guitar attack than Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Below is "Blue Sky" performed in Germany in 1991.
I am hoping I am finding different songs to say farewell.
"Trouble No More" might fit..
Thanks for the music, memory, and we will see what tomorrow brings after all you were born "A Ramblin' Man"
Today is Simon Le Bon's birthday. Flashing back to my youth, way back to my pop music youth. Duran Duran was one of the most successful pop bands of the 80s and Simon Le Bon was their lead singer.
Hungry Like the Wolf
Yes sit back and have a 80s flash back. Continuing with "Rio"

I became a fan of Jack Bruce by being a fan of Eric Clapton. Of course I am talking about the music of Cream. Here Jack Bruce and Cream perform "Sunshine of Your Love"
I didn't get the chance to see Jack Bruce with Cream but I did get to see him perform with Ringo Starr..Here they perform "White Room" with Peter Frampton...
Here Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Gary Moore perform "Spoonful" as part of BMM,,,
Here is a solo song of his "Only Playing Games"
I was blown away by Jack Bruce when I saw him live, He was obviously a great bass player. He will be missed by his fans like me for his music. His family will miss him for the parts most fans didn't see. May he rest in peacer
Bill Wyman the former bass player for the Rolling Stones turns 78 today! The bass player for a lot of classic Stones songs and paired with Charlie Watts half of a monster rhythm section in Rock and Roll.
Yes it is a great excuse for me to post and listen to some classic Rolling Stones songs. However, I will try to dig deeper and find some gems from the Stones and beyond.
Starting off with this cover of "Green River" which features Bill's current project Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings plus a couple of friends with Peter Frampton and Albert Lee..
Bill Wyman in his own words on a recent interview...
Here is a clip from 1969 performing "Gimme Shelter"
Here he rejoins his old band as a guest...
Here is a song he did solo in 1982 called "Ride on Baby"
Hope you enjoyed the music! Happy Birthday Bill Wyman!

Who knows where this song originally claim. Most agree Billy Roberts penned the song so for a point a reference I will use his version.
So many versions to choose for in a battle of bands..
First Challenger
Seal is such an incredible vocalist and David Gilmour is a guitar great. Enjoy their version..
Second Challenger
The late great Roy Buchanan..
Both versions probably draw more from the Jimi Hendrix version than Billy Roberts or any of the earlier versions. Buchanan is perhaps a more undiscovered guitarist. I was going to use underrated guitarist but everyone I know who knows of him raves about him.
Anyway these are my picks for this competition. Vote in the comments! Feel free to share your favorite versions as well since this song has been done once or twice!
Another weekend and more upsets! This week #1 Auburn fell to #4 Mississippi State 38-23. USC topped #7 Arizona 28-26. Duke upset #15 Georgia Tech.
Baylor is my new number one in the weekly shuffle. Biggest game of the week #5 Notre Dame at #2 Florida State. #15 Oklahoma State visits #6 TCU, #9 Kansas State at #8 Oklahoma, and #21 Washington at #13 Oregon highlight the week ahead.
Last year I blogged about Gibson's birthday. I celebrated adding clips of Eric Clapton discussing a famous Gibson Les Paul, a video showing a tour of the Gibson guitar factory, and a video on making a Gibson. You can enjoy that post again here,
Another year so let me share a picture of one of my old Gibson guitars.
It is a pretty basic guitar a 1971 SG100 single pickup thing.
A little guitar humor as Gibson pranks Fender at a guitar show..
This SG has a few more bells and whistles..
Happy Birthday Gibson and thanks for checking out my blog!
Yes John Lennon was in the Beatles, but his solo work is fantastic too.Above was his song "Beautiful Boy."
Today is John's birthday, he would have been 74 today. A Beatles song about 10 years off..
"Love" reflections on...
In the past I have paid tribute to John Lennon on his birthday and without looking I probably selected the typical top hits or popular songs. No excuses they are great! I just wanted to explore his greatness with some deeper songs.
Here is a treat "India":
Hope you enjoy! I will be back soon! Don't forget the next Battle of the Bands will be October 15!
I scored seven points more than the week before. Yahoo gave me an A- grade for the week. I still lost, 179-144. Last Thursday I thought I might be in trouble when my opponents defense scored 29 points on Thursday night.
Little things getting outscored 50-21 on kickers and defense didn't help my cause.
If the Green Bay Packers didn't hurt me there were other places I went wrong. I waived an injured Shorts for Stanton as Carson Palmer did not return. That netted me 3 points and Tom Brady came alive for 22 points.
Back at it for another week. You win some, loose some.
One, two, three the teams fell. Ole Miss upset Alabama, Arizona stunned Oregon, TCU shocked Oklahoma. #7 Texas A&M fell to Mississippi State and Michigan State stunned Nebraska. #13 BYU was surprised by Utah State. Northwestern stopped Wisconsin and Oregon State crushed USC as the upsets kept coming. Auburn became my new number one team followed by Baylor and Florida State.
The games of the week #1 Auburn at #5 Mississippi State and #8 TCU visits #2 Baylor. Texas AM at #10 Mississippi State. Other key games games include #6 Ole Miss at #13 Texas AM, #12 Oregon at #25 UCLA, #14 Georgia at Missouri, Duke at #15 Georgia Tech, Washington at #20 California, #23 Louisville at Clemson, and #24 Utah at Oregon State. Alabama at #12 Mississippi, #15 LSU at #4 Auburn, #16 Arizona at #2 Oregon, #19 Stanford at #8 Notre Dame, #3 Oklahoma at #23 TCU, and #25 Ohio State at Maryland might be a surprise game of the week.
Who will prevail in the upcoming week? Time will tell but after next week the maximum amount of undefeated teams drops to 8. Upsets could drop it down even more.

Today is the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan's 60th birthday. It has been two years since I devoted a blog post to Stevie so I guess I am due to create another post. Here is a link to that post only one song out of three has lasted this long.
Here is an interview with Stevie..
Part of remembering someone is to hear about them in their own words. Plus fans may get some insight. A great thing about artists is their art lives on. Below he performs "Voodoo Chile"
Could you imagine him playing on one of the Experience Hendrix tours?
Above he plays his own song "Texas Flood" and below "Life by the Drop"
I think that song is a nice way to wrap up a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan as I remember him on his birthday.
I'm back for my sixth installment of Battle of the Bands. Sorry a little late in the day for the post. Here is how it works:

"Train Kept A-Rollin'" by Tiny Bradshaw. I actually was able to get the original version this time!
It is October and some have referred to the month as "Rocktober" and with that in mind I present the contestants,
The Yardbirds
VS
Aerosmith
Why this song?
Rock lore has this song as the first song Led Zeppelin performed together. Personally it was one of the songs I searched out after being turned onto Led Zeppelin and seeing where they came from and who their influences were. It also introduced me to the playing of Jeff Beck.
