A to Z: Kevin Eubanks beyond the Tonight Show

Kevin Eubanks became know to many as the bandleader, guitarist, for The Tonight Show during the Jay Leno years. Seeing him play in that band and with guests one was able to get a small glimpse of his talent.

He has recorded with a who's who list of jazz giants including Stanley Jordan, Art Blakey, and Jean Luc-Ponty to highlight a few.

Let's jump into the music..

"Morning Sun" with Stanley Jordan...

Here he is with Art Blakey, Wynton and Bradford Marsalis...

A new piece from hi just released this month "Time Line"...

What are some of your favorite Kevin Eubanks moments from the Tonight Show? Did you know about his music outside of the show?

Thanks for visiting and I will have a new post up soon as the A to Z Challenge rolls on!

Happy Birthday Jimmy Fallon!

Today is Jimmy Fallon's 42nd birthday. Fallon is the latest host of The Tonight Show. The newest generation. Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, and Conan O'Brien proceeded him.

He has his own style.

Okay I got the politicalness out of the way.

He has talent in his musical skits. What do you think of him? Does he fit well for the show? How does he compare with the other hosts?

R.I.P. Drummer Ed Shaughnessy

Ed Shaughnessy was the drummer for the Tonbight Show with Johnny Carson. Ed might not have gotten the fame of being a drummer in a rock band. However, it must have been a joy to play with all trhe guests, all the different genres of music, I think he had a cool gig.He died Friday after suffering a heart attack at 84.

Here he trades licks with Buddy Rich...

I think the video below really highlights his skills...

The piece he probably played the most..

Thanks for the memories, may you rest in peace Ed Shaughnessy
