My Rankings 2027-27 After Week 3: NCAA College Football

The biggest news of week 3 was Ole Miss ruining Lane Kiffen's return to Mississippi 32-24. Third week of the football season had some surprises like Kentucky upsetting Texas A&M who I had ranked #8, West Virginia upset Virginia. Big matchups this week include Texas at Tennessee, Ole Miss at Florida, and Iowa and Michigan to name a few.

 2) Notre Dame Fightin' Irish (3-0) beat Michigan State 27-10. Visits Purdue next.

My Rankings 2027-27 After Week 2: NCAA College Football

Second week saw Oregon get upset by Oklahoma State a team that lost to Tulsa earlier. Oregon falls out of my rankings from number 8. Number 11 Oklahoma fell out of the rankings after losing to Michigan 17-10. Texas rallied past Ohio State. LSU and Lane Kiffen's return to Ole Miss highlights this week's schedule. Houston and Texas Tech is another good one. SMU and Louisville will be interesting. I wouldn't sleep on WVU taking on UVA.

 Want to see the animals of Belize? While you will see plenty of animals in the wild of Belize one place that will guarantee you see the jaguar, the Puma, the Harpy Eagle it would be the Belize Zoo! 

The Zoo's Mission statement: To inspire passion for protecting Belize's wildlife and their habitats through wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, engaging educational experiences, and conservation science.

 We did feed some yellowtail snapper carcasses to some of the ambassador crocodiles in Belize. Yellowtail Snapper are delicious to eat. I did not get to go fishing in Belize, but I did enjoy eating this fish in local restaurants. Living in Florida I have caught this species in the past. With the large reef in Belize the country is a great place to catch this fish,

 Belize is a beautiful country with lots of nature areas. Mountains, jungles, rivers and seas make up the landscape of Belize.

On my first adventure in Belize I found a waterfall.

I also jumped in and wasn't worried about water for the rest of my trip.

IF you are searching for waterfalls Belize is a place to find them!

April Blogging A to Z Challenge 2026: V is for Vacation in Belize

 After spending over 30 days in Belize would I recommend Belize for a vacation? Absolutely. So much to do in Belize from visiting Maya temples, jungles, mountains, lagoons, the Caribbean, cities, towns and villages. The people are friendly, English is the official language, different cultures, good food, nature, fishing, boating, diving, scuba, snorkeling, zip lining, kayaking, rafting, hiking, relaxing the list of things to do is almost endless. Not a place for being in a rush as things are done in Belizean time. 

The friends I made was worth the trip alone. The adventures I had will last a lifetime. After a year I still speak fondly of the trip.

 Uxbenka is a Mayan Ruins site in the lowlands of Belize in the southern region called Toledo. Dating back to 250-500 years CE.

Above is a video of that site. One of the daytrips I made while in Belize was to visit a Mayan site and I was glad to take a day to appreciate that culure.

April Blogging A to Z Challenge 2026: T is for Transportation in Belize

 The forms of transportation I used in Belize was planes, boats, buses, taxis, vans, and borrowed vehicles. Not everyone in Belize owns a cars and where I spent the majority of the time golf carts were pretty common. Walking and bicycles was also a manner to get around.

I did ride a bus from Placencia to Belmopan which was an adventure. A bit cramp being 5'11 and over 200lbs. On the way back we had to be resourceful in get a taxi ride back. 

Most tourist tours provide transportation in vans! We were in a boat most days and I flew by small plane from Belize City to Placencia to and from my international flights.

Transportation was part of the adventure!

April Blogging A to Z Challenge 2026: S is for Scuba and Snorkel

 Fitting for Earth Day. Belize is home to the second largest reef in the world. Protected and beautiful the reef is home to amazing sea life like sea turtles, sharks, barracudas, lobsters, eels and more!  Snorkeling is a great way to see under the sea. I saw more sea turtles from snorkeling. 

I enjoyed the scuba but the pressure on the ears and nose was a bit. I felt it in my ears and I came up with a slight nose-bleed that didn't hurt. I would absolutely do it again!

 A rat fit for a Queen! Once fed to Queen Elizabeth II the Pacas or what locals call Gibnuts were also called Royal Rats. We did see some on our trip I did not eat any.

I had conch first as fritters and then I had them in a couple other foods, Queen Conch is one of the largest conch species. I believe they are threatened or protected in Florida, but Belize has a very protected marine area.

 Placencia is the place I spent the majority of my time in Belize. The town is a beach town in southern Belize. Great access to the lagoon, nearby jungles and mountains. The sea was right there for Caribbean views, scuba diving, snorkeling, cruises and more!

Small shops, coffee shops, eateries, rum all easily available. No big chains, no super stores, and health food was cheaper than junk food.

 Going to Belize was an opportunity! When I was in Belize getting to know the people, I was staying with was an opportunity. Which led to the opportunity to explore the jungle, zipline, raft, scuba, snorkel, explore Maya ruins or simply enjoy coffee! Yes, there were some missed opportunities but more often then not some wonderful opportunities!

 Another animal I did not see in the wild in Belize was the Howler Monkey. I did hear them in the jungle at the night.

 The primary language in Belize is English as the country was British Honduras until 1982. The second biggest language in Belize is Spanish which makes sense considering the countries location. the third most popular language is Kriol also known as Belize Creole. 

The language mixes influences from English, African (from slave days), Native Tongues, Spanish annd other influences to create it unique language.

April Blogging A to Z Challenge 2026: J for Jaguars in Belize

 I went for a night hike and night tubing trip in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.

In this wilderness I did not find a Jaguar, but I did see signs of them. The signs being paw prints and scratch marks in trees and logs. In a remote area in a lagoon, we were treated to the aroma of a place a Jaguar had recently marked. On my trip the only place I saw a Jaguar was in the zoo.
