The first quintet was good, but I didn't get into that one so much. I think the second video by Reve Boheme did a better job of capturing the spirit of the original. My vote goes to Reve Boheme.

I couldn't play the first one on your site so i went to youtube. The first was not interesting enough like the 2nd one. They held my interest so my vote goes to Rev Boheme.

This was a GR-R-REAT! Battle.
I listened to the Paul Mehling/Nate Ketner Quintet and thought they were terrific. Couldn't imagine not voting for them.
Then I listened to Reve Boheme and thought that group was even better.
My first impression was that it was alto sax versus harmonica and I dern-near voted for the harmonica (i.e., Reve Boheme). But then I thought to myself: Lemme go back and listen to Mehling/Nate Ketner Quintet once more before I cast my vote.
And that's when I got it! It's not really an alto sax / harmonica thing. It's really a funkiness versus groove thang. That first group takes an almost funky approach to the tune, while the second group just digs into a massive groove and just floats through the tune.
This Battle is more like "sting like a bee" versus "float like a butterfly". And in the final analysis, the Funk Factor got to me. So the shutout is over already. I'll take the Mehling/Nate Ketner Quintet.

I'm going with Reve Boheme, because of the harmonica.
I had to go to youtube to find the first one...it took some doing:) Anyhoo, I give it to Reve Boheme because it kept my interest. Nate and Paul are good but it made me think of elevator music after a while
