R.I.P Dusty Hill

 Dusty Hill was more than a bass player, he was a lead singer, a backing singer, a keyboardist, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, and one third of the legendary rock band ZZ Top! Joseph Michael Hill better known as Dusty will be missed by his family, his bandmates, fans and friends.

Today we celebrate his live, his musical career and  "I Want to Thank You" Mr. Hill...

They were blues they were rock and roll and at some point worked their way into the soundtrack of our lives.

I could go on and on with the bands long catalog, but that little band out of Texas 

has become a lot smaller. Rest in peace Dusty Hill!

Battle of the Bands Results: Mr. Nobody beats Kenny Chesney

 Mac McAnally shut out Kenny Chesney on my latest Battle of the Bands. The Battle fell on  Mac's Birthday. Announcing the results a bit more kindly one could say Mac edged out Kenny. Honestly the outcome was similar to a soccer match as the songwriter knocked off the Country star two to nothing.

I'll see you down the road! Stayed tune as my blog continues and has posts. I won't have a Battle of the Bands on August 1st. I am putting my participation in the Battle of the Bands on hiatus. Maybe I will jump back in down the road. The lowest votes maybe since my first battle. The lowest pageviews for a Battle of the Bands this year in a month where I have had the most pageviews ever.  Sounds like a good time for a hiatus. Thanks for visiting and I will see you soon!

Battle of the Bands: Back Where I Come From

 It's summer time. Today's song is featured in Jimmy Buffett's set quite a bit because the songwriter has a side gig playing in Jimmy's band. Anyway today will be songwriter versus country star. Let me know which one you like the best in the comments and I will announce a winner in a week or so.

Battle of the Bands Results: Sarah McLachlan flies away with it

 The Battle of the Bands results for Blackbird are in. Sarah McLachlan flies away with it defeating the legendary folk rockers Crosby, Stills and Nash 4 to 1.

After the win she was found "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy"

Some say the wait for results was "Building a Mystery"

She stated "I Will Remember You"

She was graceful and dedicated "Fallen" to CSN

Apparently CSN had "Sweet Surrender"

I made all that up, but she won 4 to 1.

Congratulations to the Mississippi State Bulldogs for their first Championship

Winning a championship is always special. When the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team won the College World Series last month the school earned their first baseball championship and the school's first athletic championship in 126 years of competing.

Highlights from the championship game....

Congratulations to the Bulldogs for winning the college baseball championship! The historic win is obviously great for the team, school, students, alumni and fans of the university.

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Lightning

 Tampa is getting used to championships this year. First the Buccaneers one the Super Bowl and now the Lighting have one the Stanley Cup.

The Lightning will try to win their third cup in a row when the 2021-22 NHL Season starts in the Fall. In the main time congratulations on your Championship.

 

R.I.P Jack Ingram

 Last month Hall of Fame race car driver Jack Ingram passed away at the age of 84. He won his Busch Series races on the backside of his 40s. He was the Busch Series Champion in 1982 and 1985. In 1972, 73 and 74 he won the Late Model Sportsman Division Championships.

He will be missed by his fans, friends and family.
