Battle of the Bands: Lawyers, Guns and Money

My muse for today's battle came from Stephen's battle in January.  Warning:  Don't blast this song at work, there is an S word in the lyrics.

The song comes from the late Warren Zevon. Best known for writing the song "Werewolves of London."

If I went with "the stripper" I would probably need "Lawyers, Guns and Money."

The song don't vote for this one..

Contestant One: Hank Williams Jr

I might as well go with an outlaw.

Contestant Two: The Wallflowers

The rules are pretty simple vote for Hank or the Wallflowers in the comment and I will tally up the winner in a week or so.

Thanks for visiting! Please vote!

The Wallflowers delivered a very clean, slickly produced cover of Hank Jr's cover (not really sure who covered it first but I'm guessing Hank Jr). In the long run I'd probably prefer to hear the Wallflowers repeatedly, but for the contest Hank Jr makes the song more authentic like he actually lived the song.

I vote for Hank Williams Jr.

Howdy, MIKE! How ya doin'?

Look at you, man, you're all over it this time! One of the first Battles to get posted and the first person to leave a vote on my own Battle! You dun come chargin' out of the chute for the February 15th round of BOTB!

I distinctly remember your "Lawyers, Guns & Money" remark on my Burlesque Battle in January.

Man, The Wallflowers did this song way better'n I anticipated. Nevertheless, my vote goes to BOCEPHUS. I dig his "rough 'n' rowdy" sound. Hank Junior is my second favorite Country musician of all-time, after Waylon, the original "Outlaw".

I own a bunch of BOCEPHUS albums, including a 3-disc retrospective set which includes his cover of 'Lawyers, Guns & Money'. And what's funny is that as soon as it stopped playing here on your blog, my mind could clearly hear the first few notes of the song that follows it on my compact disc, 'This Ain't Dallas'. Weird how the mind works, eh?

Good Battle, Mike! Fun song with two top-notch covers. Go, Bocephus!!! ;^)

I liked the Wallflowers' singer's voice better than Hank Jr.'s, so the Wallflowers get my vote.

Hey Mike!

I Love it when we get inspired by our friends posts. When I first saw that you were using Warren Zevon, I thought of THIS SONG Note: this one comes with a language warning.

Two great contenders here, but I'm going to have to cast my vote for Bocephus (Hank Jr)

Fun battle! Stop by my place for a drink if you haven't already.

Mike,

I didn't know this song, so that was good. This made it easy for me to not compare it to the original. Both cover artists did a nice job. I liked Hank's version better than I thought but in the end, I preferred the overall rendition done by The Wallflowers. Cool battle!

I vote for the Wallflowers. I guess I never was a Hank Williams fan.

Hey, how you doing? I know I haven't stopped over to see you in awhile. Also, I'm probably late arriving for this battle, but I have not seen a results so I figured I'd throw my vote in for the Wallflowers. It was close, but I ended up liking their version best. Hope things are going well for you.
