R.I.P John Prine

Covid-19 took another musician. This time it was the legendary John Prine an influential and two time Grammy Award winning singer songwriter. If you like Bonnie Raitt he wrote this song..

Bonnie and John "Angel from Montgomery"

Who knows maybe I will run into him in heaven and join him for a vodka and ginger ale at the Tree of Forgiveness. "When I Get to Heaven"

"Hello in There"

Here he is with Iris DeMent "In Spite of Ourselves"

So many songs. Please feel free to leave your favorites in the comments.

"It's A Big Ole Goofy World"

Thanks for the songs, may you rest in peace!

A to Z Challenge: Fishing

I was going to go Mardi Gras this year but I was a slacker on booking my hotel room. When I finally got around to it hotel room prices were sky high in the Big Easy. I new the prices were gonna be jacked up. They are for Jazz Fest too. I was expecting Jazz Fest style pricing and I still had price shock. I missed a parade or two, a show at Tipitina's and apparently a good opportunity to catch Covid-19. I went another direction, literally. New Orleans is three hours West, I went four hours East and South. Spent a night in "a storied hotel" for $50. It was a small, Southern town, that was nothing like Carnival in New Orleans. I never figured out what was so storied about the hotel. I think I fell asleep before I even cracked the cover. As the picture above shows I had things to catch.

Tab Benoit "Sac Au Lait Fishing"

I combine music and fishing. Tab Benoit the last musician I saw in New Orleans when I was there for New Years!

The past year a lot of the lyrics kinda fits my life...

"Don't Ask Me No Questions" Lynyrd Skynryd

"If you want to talk fishin'
I guess that would be okay."

Brad Paisley "I'm Gonna Miss Her"

By the time it was all said and done my face was redder than that redfish!

There you go a fish tale and a few songs!

A to Z: Downtown these Days

I welcomed in 2020 in what you could call Downtown New Orleans. Okay technically it was a music hall in uptown. 2020 I saw a couple of musicians in downtown Mobile. I was going to go see the same musician I saw on New Year's again in downtown Mobile  last month but my plans got cancellled. I've done my share of travelling through downtown Jacksonville as I have driven from exit 5 to the coast of the Atlantic. 9In my life I have spent plenty of time in Downtowns both big and small. A lot of Downtown fun has been put on hold these days so I thought I would do a musical tribute to downtown.

Rod Stewart with "Downtown Train" ….

Petula Clark "Downtown"

Thin Lizzy "Downtown Sundown"

What are some of your favorite Downtown songs? See you Monday with a new post.

A to Z: Covid 19 Blues

Once Corona was a beer. Open a cold bottle slide a wedge a lime inside. Used to be Jimmy Buffett's beer till he bought Landshark.

Of all the things it could be it turned into a virus, all that pent up anger I guess.

It could have been "Corinna" and Taj Mahal would sing about it...

Are you sure it's not Corvid 19, the Black Crowes did just get back together..

Maybe they are the "Remedy."

Yes Covid 19 is serious. It has spread the world faster than a "Love Trrain"

People have died. People have gotten very sick. Pretty much everything has been closed down. Hope is what we got. Hope for a vaccine. Hope that it will pass.

See you something for D

A to Z: B is for Bad Company

Just rolling into this A to Z thing. I kicked things off with Free's  "All Right Now"  so following up with Bad Company is chronologically correct. At least in Paul Rodgers musical career.

Starting things off with Bad Company by Bad Company.

The next one is "Shooting Star" is one of my favorites...

Sometimes "I Feel Like Making Love"

Ill leave you with "Gone, Gone, Gone"

See you soon with C!
