Battle of the Bands Results: Kravitz Way

Jimi Hendrix's "If 6 was 9" was the song I used to mark my 6th year anniversary of doing Battle of the Bands.  I had Lenny Kravitz taking on Wolfmother in this bout. The battle went Lenny's way 6 to 1. Lenny has a song about it...

"Are you gonna go my Way"

It's a musical journey.  I try to mix it up different genres. Don't have a big list of songs or battles in waiting.  It's pretty much on the fly. It is subject to sudden changes. Sometimes I feel I have been in one genre more than I should so I make a switch. Sometimes I'm right sometimes not!

"Fly Away"

Really the whole thing is rather simple. I guess it is just human nature to make it complicated.

"Ride"

I am not planning to quit anytime soon.

"It Ain't Over Till it's Over"

Until next time!

Battle of the Bands: Sixth Year Anniversary Edition

Today marks my sixth year anniversary of doing the Battle of the Bands. It is great that this blog hop is still going on with a strong group of bloggers. The bitter sweet thing is the bloggers who have come and gone. The important thing to me is the blog hop is still fun to do. I used to worry about running out of material but that hasn't become an issue.

On this Battle I am going back to guitar driven, blues influenced classic rock! Not too far off from my first Battle which featured a Rolling Stones song. This one features a tune from Jimi Hendrix called "If Six was Nine." I could very well still be doing the Battle of the Bands when this become a 9th year anniversary.

The Original Jimi Hendrix...

Okay the original used in a movie clip from "Easy Rider"

Let's Rock!

Contender One: Wolfmother

Now that your awake let's keep rocking with contender Two.

Contender Two: Lenny Kravitz

The Battle of the Bands is interactive. Your part is to vote for who you liked the best in the comments Wolfmother or Lenny. You can say why, have fun in the comments too! However please vote!

I count up the votes in a week or so and write a post announcing the winner. I hope you enjoyed and I will be back soon!

R.I.P Ennio Morricone

Starting this post off with the Grammy Award nominated theme to The Good The Bad and The Ugly. Iyt was Ennio Morricone's first Grammy Nomination he would eventually win two.

In his life he composed the scores for over 400 movies and television shows. Considered among the best. if not the best at what he did. He was very influential and his legacy will continue with his influence.

"For A Few Dollars More"

The opening track for The Hateful Eight

That movie won him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a few other awards.

The theme to "The Mission"

His music came alive in the movies we watched. Setting the mood, the scene, and your reaction. His work will live on as part of the films. He will be missed!

Battle of the Bands Results: Counting Raindrops

A Hal David and Burt Bacharach classic performed by BJ Thomas was setting for the battle. The Battle featured a crooner versus a modern band. I thought the latter might run away with it.

The award winning Welsh band The Manic Street Preachers were my bet to win. They gave it a try earning two votes.

Johnny Mathis understands the great American Songbook and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" belongs in that book. Well Johnny won easily with 5 votes.

The score 5 to 2.

 Celebrating winners...
                                                      "Chances Are"

"It's not for me to say"

"Misty"

Join me on the 15th for my 6th year anniversary of doing Battle of the Bands.

"Long Haired Country Boy"

"My Beautiful America"
