Battle of the Bands: Oh Well!

Peter Green passed away a few days ago. I did a tribute post to him but I held back a gem of a song called "Oh Well." It is right up my alley classic guitar fueled blues rock.

The second verse is fitting, I can imagine him having this conversation entering heaven..

Now, when I talked to God, I knew He'd understand
He said, "Stick by my side and I'll be your guiding hand
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to"

There is probably a lot of truth to that verse for everyone. Thankfully there is a whole lot of grace.  Hear my full sermon at the Church of the Late Night Rock and Roller.

Fleetwood Mac "Oh Well"

Next I have two contenders. To be part of the great democracy I have established here 6 years ago after being shown the great path to freedom by Stephen and company. You can find a full list of bloggers on similar musical roads at his site. I admit sometimes the freedom turns into anarchy  but that's okay  it is usually better than the real world. Anyway I have two contenders you vote in the comments which version you liked the best or hated the least and I count up the votes and post about a winner in a week or so.

Contender One: Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes

Contender Two: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

Hope you enjoyed the Battle, I look forward to reading nd counting your votes! I will have another Battle on the 15th and in between I will post the winner of this Battle and probably a few more posts. As always you are welcome to visit, enjoy the snacks help yourself to a beverage.

A to Z: Covid 19 Blues

Once Corona was a beer. Open a cold bottle slide a wedge a lime inside. Used to be Jimmy Buffett's beer till he bought Landshark.

Of all the things it could be it turned into a virus, all that pent up anger I guess.

It could have been "Corinna" and Taj Mahal would sing about it...

Are you sure it's not Corvid 19, the Black Crowes did just get back together..

Maybe they are the "Remedy."

Yes Covid 19 is serious. It has spread the world faster than a "Love Trrain"

People have died. People have gotten very sick. Pretty much everything has been closed down. Hope is what we got. Hope for a vaccine. Hope that it will pass.

See you something for D

Battle of the Bands results: A Tie

I was out of town due to a family emergency. So my last few posts have been done via the phone. I put my results on hold. I could cast a deciding vote, but I picked the songs. I like my audience to pick the winners.

The vote were down. Just a half dozen votes. So your vote really does matter here! Sometimes it can stop a shutout and sometimes it can decide the winner. I might revisit the song with different contenders to see if we can find a winner. However, October is my Rocktober so the songs might rock a bit more!

It was a bird fight in my Battle.

The Black Crowes had no remedy..

The Byrds sounded like they were Eight Miles High..

and no one was Willin' to be the winner..

Maybe I'll have a winner on my next battle in a couple of days!

Battle of the Bands: Willin'

Last week  I went to the sold out Miranda Lambert concert and for the first song of her encore she covered Little Feat's Willin.' I was surprised to see her cover Little Feat! Can never get enough Little Feet. Well, I am a little late to the party but it is still the 15th in my neck of the woods and I'm still Willin' so come on listen and vote.

If you don't know the routine. Here it is I pick a song and share a video with the original artist or someone who made the song famous. Then I pick two contenders to battle it out to see whose cover is best. Who decides the winner? You do when you vote in the comments.

If you like these battles. Check out the other ones going on. This site has the most up to date list of Battles.

The Song Willin' by Little Feat

Contestant One: The Black Crowes

Contestant Two: The Byrds

I am glad you joined me on this Battle. Vote in the comments and we will see who wins. The Black Crowes or The Byrds. I'll be back on the 21st with results.
