Eric Clapton's Birthday

Today is Eric Clapton's birthday. His birthday is a good enough excuse to share a few tunes.

Oh for anyone with a date...

I think I had this beer...Cream "Strange Brew:

The Yardbirds.... "Louise"

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers "Steppin'Out"

"Someone Like You"

A little time travel through some of his early projects. I tried to get some lesser known tracks in there. I wrapped it up with a few solo songs. Thanks for visiting and remember next month this blog is going to be busy.

Battle of the Bands Results: The Gravel Spreaders

I like you Carbon Leaf. It would be really cool if you came some where close to me on tour. That being said no win for you!

The Gravel Spreaders I discovered on youtubes moments before the battle. They same like a fun band that I would check out at a bar with a pint.

No shut out here. However it was not close. The votes were 6 to 2.

Here is a little "Rebel Yell"

"You kicked my heart in the n.." maybe not safe for work, children etc...

Hopefully I will have one on the 15th, but April is going to be a bit Cray, Cray around here.

Battle of the Bands:Crazy Train

Welcome to the Ides of March version of Battle of the Bands. I hope it isn't an epic fail. Of course I could go Irish with St. Patrick's day approaching. Irish would balance it out with luck.

Well come aboard the "Crazy Train"..

Don't vote for Ozzy. I have some other "crazy" contenders..

Contender One

Well, for St. Patrick's Day and in my favorite Virginia Band "Carbon Leaf"

Contender Two

Keeping it crazy, how about a country bluegrass version from The Gravel Spreaders

Vote for the one you like the best Carbon Leaf Vs The Gravel Spreaders in the comments. I tally the results in a week (or 2 or so) and announce the winner in another post.

Monday's Music Moves Me: Color Me with Music

Today's theme is similar to a theme in January with songs with colors. Revisit if you want for more colorful songs here. I like to think I'm creative, or at least at times. There is a lot of music out there.

If I'm coloring me, I'm trying to "Pant My Masterpiece" and I hope you are painting yours..

The Band performing the song written by Bob Dylan.

Below "Color Me Once" The Violent Femmes

Ben Haggard "Color Me"

In the end we can only hope to see the "True Colors"

Well I hope you enjoyed. I'm going to put the paints and brushes down.

Thoughts on Black Panther

Black Panther is another action packed blockbuster based on a Marvel Comic. What do you like in an action movie? If it is car chases, incredible special effects, and battles then you should check out the film!

The film is Sci-fi without leaving the Earth! What if a third world country hid an advanced society?

I also enjoyed the Stan Lee cameo.

Black Panther is a fun ride and an entertaining movie!

Monday's Music Moves Me: BJ Thomas

Monday's Music Moves Me is a freebie this weekend. Before I get into the music one of the regulars in the 4M rotation is in need of some prayers and positive vibes. JAMerian Spice could use some love so please feel free to give her an extra visit.

When I was really young one of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio was "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head." Well, Friday night BJ Thomas the singer/songwriter of that hit from way too many yesteryears ago was playing six miles away. My wife really want to see him. Well there were a few raindrops in the air and magic happened.

The venue was very intimate with a 350 person capacity.

Image may contain: one or more people and people standing

Anyone remember "Raindrops"?

Of course there is always "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song"

"Don't Worry Baby" it is all part of the plan..

Let's just sing a "Rock and Roll Lullaby"

Yes he sang all those songs and more. Hope you enjoyed come back soon!

Battle of the Bands Result: The Wallflowers

Last month's Battle of the Band was fun! No shutout, but a decisive win by The Wallflowers 6 to 3.
As you know I celebrate winners here!

"Three Marlinas" gets the party started..

"Heroes"

The song about things I get pulled over for... "One Headlight"

Well I have 11 days to think of something for my next Battle of the Bands. I'm sure I will think of something. Well I hope you enjoyed and I will be back soon.
