Celebrating Jaco Pastorius

Today September 21, 2016 is the 29th anniversay of the dkeath of Jaco Pastorious. He was a very talented and legendary bass player. I invite you to check out the tribute I published here last year as well. That post features some tasty treats for your ears. I would link it but I am posting from my phone.

Happy Birthday Sting!

Today is Sting's birthday. Sting was the vocalist and bass player for the Police and also an accomplished solo artist as well. Besides singing and playing bass Sting plays other instruments as well. Sting has won 16 Grammy Awards and 25 American Music Awards, an Emmy and is a Kennedy Center Honoree.

So lets jump in and celebrate the 64 year old's music!

Tribute to Jaco Pastorious

Jaco Pastorious passed away 28 years ago from a brain hemorrhage while he was in a coma. Something caused by an altercation with a bouncer. Mostly known as a jazz bassist he is best known for his work in Weather Report and with Pat Metheny and Joni Mitchell.

Anyone who follows may have noticed I have a lot of respect for Joni Mitchell so this is probably a great time to visit their catalog together...the tune is "Coyote"

R.I.P Chris Squire

Chris Squire a founder, vocalist and bass player extraordinaire of the legendary prog band Yes passed away at the age of 67. I played tribute to the band Yes during the April A to Z Challenge. The post had a lot of great Yes songs if you are searching for more music it is here!
