Monday's Music Moves Me and Blogging A to Z: Santana

It's a twofer post today. I am doing the A to Z Challenge where you blog based on a specific letter of the alphabet through the month of April. Today's letter is S.

It is also Monday's Music Moves Me and today is a freebie which really makes it easy to intertwine the two.

I have been doing my A to Z relating it to my Mom. The musician I am going to focus on is Santana because my Mom and I went to see him at Wolftrap it was a co-bill with  Jeff Beck. (I went the following day too!)

It was 1995 and her is Santana performing "Jinga" in Peru that year.

Santana "Smooth" with Rob Thomas.

No not all songs from the same year. This is just a collection to enjoy.

One of my all time favorite Santa song is "Winning"

Since the anniversary of Woodstock is coming here is a flashback. Santana performing "Soul Sacrifice" at the festival.

I could do this all day but I know you have other blogs to visit. It was a fun concert which I enjoyed with my Mom.

R.I.P Bobby Parker

His musical resume is impressive on a world wide level. However, like a lot of great musicians he made the Washington, D.C. area his home. I am talking about the blues guitarist Bobby Parker who I wrote an article about his passing which you can read here.

Obviously on an article like that I am limited on the music I can share. Here I am not. Since I shared the sad story and his bio information in the  article. I wanted to share his music and celebrate his life, I had the privileged to see him perform a couple of times.

He is best known for this influential hit..

Here Bobby Parker plays with Carlos Santana..

Here he performs "Blues Get Off My Shoulder"

I am going to end with The Spencer Davis Group covering Bobby Parker

Bobby Parker rest in peace you will be missed!

Happy Birthday! Santana

Today is Carlos Santnana's 66th birthday! When I hear him play a song he is one of the few guitarists I can go "hey that's Santana." In other words he has a sound all his own that shines through.I had the pleasure to see him in concert back in 1989 or 1990. I saw him two nights in a row with Jeff Beck.

It weas the first two shows of the tour so they didn't play anything together but here they are playing "Amazing Grace"

This Peter Green song, Santana makes his own...

In recent times he has played with other musicinas with great results such as this with Michelle Branch...

and with Everlast..

I've always liked this song of his..

A god mix of rarities, newer stuff, and some classics a perfect way to celebrate his birthday!
