Battle of the Bands: Changes a little rock

Changes in musical inspirations for my Battle of the Bands are not very subtle. Manic changes from one spectrum to the other can happen pretty quickly and often. How can I go from John Hiatt to Black Sabbath? Well here it goes.

The song is "Changes" by Black Sabbath

If you think me shifting gears from John Hiatt to Black Sabbath just wait till you hear the contenders.

Contender One: The Cardigans

                                           Contender Two: Charles Bradley

Who are you going to vote for The Cardigans or Charles Bradley? Let me know in the comments and I will tally up the votes and post about the winner later this month.

I used to listen to a lot of Black Sabbath. I still like some of their stuff. I can't recall ever having heard this song before. Doesn't sound like any Black Sabbath I'd heard before. I like it.

The Bradley version is heartfelt and so cool. However I like that Fleetwood Mac sound of The Cardigans. This sounds like music I would have listened to back in the seventies.

A vote for The Cardigans.

I'll always remember this as the song that Ozzy and Kelly sang together. My vote is for Charles Bradley.

MIKE ~
I wasn't familiar with this song, but I thought The Cardigans did it pretty nicely. Then I went to play CHARLES BRADLEY's version and the first thing I heard was an electric organ note. SOLD! And then it kept on being good and soulful so... 2 points for Charles Barkley-- er... I mean, BRADLEY.

When I listen to these tunes, I lean towards the ones where the singer/group really brings the EMOTION and feeling to the delivery. The Cardigans are great; can't slight them at all. They probably would have scored my vote if it wasn't for Charles Bradley's soulful rendition. Loved that!!

I like Charles Bradley's take on this. He gets my vote.

I love Charles Bradley’s version because of the blues sound and his raspy voice that fits. The Cardigans were also great and she has a strong voice but I prefer the blues style more.

Mike,

I'm not a Black Sabbath listener so I didn't have to worry about comparing the original with the cover artists. Between the two rivaling singers, I instantly took a liking to Charles Brandley and wish to give my vote to him. I liked everything better about this cover artist. :)

Wow, I LOVE the Cardigans! Love their sound. And their version of Changes is way better than Black Sabbath's, in my opinion.
I liked Charles Bradley's version but not near as much as the Cardigans. My vote definitely goes with your first contender. Thanks for the introduction!
