Between Nico's version and Gregg Allman's version Jackson Browne changed the arrangement of These Days. I am just amazed Jackson Browne wrote this song when he was 16.
Enough trivia lets get to the results. Gregg Allman won three votes to one. In a week I will be putting up a new battle. In the mean time we celebrate Gregg Allman.

Happy New Year! I made it through December and 2020. I'm still doing the Battle of the Bands, Still doing it the old fashioned way and I'm still finding songs. I found this song probably in 2019, I may have heard it before but it stuck around with me.
The song is "These Days" written by Jackson Browne

My Battle of the Bands featured a song recorded by John Sebastion. Sebastion is best known for bein a member of The Lovin' Spoonful. The song "The Face of Appalacia" was co-written by the late Lowell George (Little Feat).
Valerie Carter was best known as a backing vocalist for a who's who of musical giants James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, Glen Frey, Don Henley and more. She even sang with her rival in this Battle.
She wrote songs for Judy Collins, Jackson Browne and Earth Wind & Fire. She has a Little Feat connection singing backup with them and Lowell produced a couple of albums for her. She passed away in March of 2017.

October 9 is a good day to be born if you want to be a rocker. I mean it worked for John Lennon, John Entwistle and Jackson Browne.I'll share some music, thoughts and memories.
I was probably robbed of my chance to see John Lennon when he was shot like a lot of people. The world was robbed of his future songs. Lennon was robbed of his future. We are fortunate as music fans that John Lennon created so many timeless songs with The Beatles and created some solo masterpieces as well.
It is hard to pick favorites, but this one is near the top of my list of his solo songs...
Of course everyone was posting tributes for John today and I found this incredible version of "In My Life" by Keb Mo, it is ear candy enjoy...
It is also John Entwistle's birthday. Entwistle was the bass player for The Who. I did get to see John perform with The Who and I did see the band on the same tour he died on, just a few shows later. Entwistle was able to part of a rhythm section that also included the legendary Keith Moon.

I reviewed Jackson Browne's concert this week with special guest Sara Watkins. You can read my review here if you like. I knew it was going to be a good concert. I like a little Bluegrass, Americana music and I was aware of Sara's work with Nickel Creek. Always a plus when you like both groups performing. I hadn't seen Jackson Browne perform but he was right up my alley as well. He impressed me as a mellow, very cool person who enjoyed the music. I mean he actually came on stage to introduce Sara Watkins who opened the show. Then he sat in with her for the final two songs of her set. Then he allowed her to set in on several songs during his set.

Okay the main attraction was Jackson Browne, even though he sure gave Sara her dues! Okay I couldn't find a performance from this year's show but her is a clip from the last time he played Wolf Trap in 2009...
