Battle of the Bands: A Day late, Frog Galliard

Well I am a day late on my Battle of the Band and probably a few dollars short. Any way today I am switching genres to classical music. John Dowland's Frog Galliard is the piece. I have it performed on classical guitar and lute. Performed by a Gent and a Lady.  Below are the contenders.

Christoph Denoth

Ieva Baltmiskyte

Who do you like best Christoph or Ieva? Let me know in the comments. I will have the results in a week or so in another post. In the mean time I will see you soon!

I can't profess any real excitement over the musical composition, but I'm not into that style or era of music that much. Of the two I prefer the sound of the lute better so I'll cast my vote for the lady.

Not really my style of music, but I did enjoy the lute a bit more than expected.

Oh, Ieva! I definitely like Ieva better!! I wouldn't even look twice at Christoph.

But, of course, if we're talking STRICTLY about the music, then I prefer CHRISTOPH, because of the richer sound of the guitar. Lutes just sound too much like... "lutes".

And here’s a surprising bit o’ news for ya:

I have a live BOTB competition in this round, and you can find it here [Link> BATTLE OF THE BANDS REMATCH! (Or, VICKI SUE ROBINSON VS. STARBUCK)

There’s a good likelihood that I’ll have another BOTB installment on July 1st, 2021. And after that? Only The Shadow knows!

Love this all the way!! I guess I am in the minority but I give it to Leva with her wonky lute. It sounds better to me with this type of instrument.

Mike,

I'm giving my vote to CHRISTOPH. I prefer the sound of the guitar over the lute. Thanks for playing along in my recent battle, my friend!
