Battle of the Bands: A Day late, Frog Galliard

Well I am a day late on my Battle of the Band and probably a few dollars short. Any way today I am switching genres to classical music. John Dowland's Frog Galliard is the piece. I have it performed on classical guitar and lute. Performed by a Gent and a Lady.  Below are the contenders.

Christoph Denoth

Ieva Baltmiskyte

Who do you like best Christoph or Ieva? Let me know in the comments. I will have the results in a week or so in another post. In the mean time I will see you soon!

Moving into March with a brand new Battle of the Bands. If you like guitar music you are in for a treat this month. My battle features one of my favorite guitarists against one of his guitar heroes.

The piece is  called "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams...

The rules are simple. You pick the version you like best and tell me in the comments. In a week or so I count up the votes and announce a winner.

Contender One: Tommy Emmanuel

Contender Two: Chet Atkins

Well I hope you enjoyed. Please vote in the comments! Every vote counts. I will be back soon with a new post and I will announce the winner later this month.

Battle of the Bands Winner: Kaori Muraji

Kaori Muraji won my Battle of the Bands battle 4 to 3. The votes were slightly down perhaps due to the Holiday. Changing to a classical guitar piece may have hurt. I don't know. I liked the piece it kind of grabbed me. It has been years since I watched The Deer Hunter.

Anyway Karori Muraji is a 40 year old guitarist from Japan. She is the first Japanese artist to sign with Decca Music Group.

Here is a piece called "Flowers will Bloom"

Yes I'm jumping into the music to celebrate the winner. Here is medley from "New Cinema Paradise"

"The Girl's in Love with You"

I will be back with a new battle on December 1st. Thanks for voting and thanks for visiting!

Battle of the Bands: Early Edition Chopin nylon or electric?

I know the Battles of the Band is supposed to be on the 1st and the 15th. Since I will be out of town on the 15th I am going to post it early. Plus this was one of the few "rules" I haven't broken on the Battle of the Bands.

The piece..

Frédéric Chopin - Prelude in E-Minor (op.28 no. 4)

The above is just for reference.

Contestant One: József Eötvös

Contestant Two: Jimmy Page

Should Chopin be played on guitar? Is the classical piece better suited for the classical guitar? Do you like what Jimmy does with the piece? Who gets your vote? Vote in the comments and we will have a winner soon! Please check out the other contestants links should be up here.
