Battle of the Bands: Simple Man

My Battle of the Bands this go around features Lynyrd Skynyrd and their song "Simple Man."  

 

My contenders feature a Metal Band versus a Rock Band.  One version is a popular cover the other less commercial. A battle with a few contrasts.

The normal rules apply. In the comments you tell me which cover you like the best. You can expand and tell me and my readers why if you like. I sometimes quote voters or find inspiration for future Battles from the comments. However the main purpose is to decide a winner. After I count up the votes in a week or so I announce the winner in a future post. A pretty simple process.

If you visit my blog sometimes there is some Good Rocking going on. Tonight that is the case.

I'll pick a song and share a video with the original artist or someone who made the song famous. Then I pick two contenders to battle it out to see whose cover is best. Who decides the winner? You do when you vote in the comments.

I will confess I had not heard the original version of this song until tonight. It is the song "Good Rocking Tonight" by Roy Brown. Going back to early rock way back from 1947..

The original isn't in the contest. However, the next two will be open for your voting pleasure.

My Interview with Sevendust Guitarist John Connolly

I had the honor to interview guitarist John Connolly from the band Sevendust. You can read my interview here. Their latest album is "Blackout the Sun." I will share some clips of the band in action. They are a hard rock, metal band so the songs are louder.
