Battle of the Bands Results: No Fooling Van Halen Handly defeats Ann Wilson

The battle of The Who's "Won't get Fooled Again" was won easily by Van Halen over Ann Wilson 6 to 1. The cover by Van Halen was recorded during the Sammy Hagar years. As usual we celebrate winners.

                                                      "Right Now"

"Dreams"

I will be back soon with another Battle of the Bands on May 1st!

Battle of the Bands: Won't Get Fooled Again

It is April Fool's Day so I thought I would go with The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."

The Who's version not part of the contest...

Contender One: Van Halen

Contender Two: Ann Wilson

Who is it gonna be? Van Halen or Ann Wilson?

How many April Fool pranks did you fall for?

Have fun, let me know which version you like the best I will get the results up in a week or so.

Battle of the Bands: Isolation

Perhaps a good song for the times we are going through "Isolation" is my choice for this round of Battle of the Bands. The song is by John Lennon from his John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.

I will now present two contenders. You vote on which version you like best in the comments. I count them up in a week or so. I announce the winner in a separate post.

Contender One: Ann Wilson

Contender Two: Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp

I hope you enjoyed! I look forward to your vote. Both covers are different from the original. Ann with her voice gives a female take in contrast to John. Jeff Beck covering a song that originally didn't feature guitar. Should be fun! I will be back soon.

Battle of the Bands: Ann and Norah all tied up

My last Battle of the Bands featured two talented but different females singing a classic Soundgarden song. It was another tribute to Chris Cornell. If I wanted a girl to rock me it would be Ann Wilson. If I was in the mood for something more jazzy it would be Norah Jones. Hearing these two woman interpret Cornell's song really paid tribute to how well the song was created.

I enjoyed the Battle and I look forward to the next one. The results came in  with each artist getting three votes. The results are all done by the votes of my readers. That' s why I don't cast a tie-breaking vote.

Here is Ann Wilson in Heart...

Here is Norah Jones..."Come Away with Me"

Stay tuned I will have another Battle of the Bands coming up on June 15th. Please come back and vote on an all new Battle of the Bands.

Battle of the Bands: In Memory Black Hole Sun

Last month the world lost some talented musicians. Even though I honored them with a tribute post, I a still remembering them in the Battle of the Bands.

How it works: I post two versions of the songs. You listen to the songs and let me know which one you thought was the best in the comments. I count up the votes and announce a winner at a later day which will be around June 7.

In honor of Chris Cornell, today's song comes from Soundgarden...

Ann Wilson

This one wasn't a tribute, but was done just a few days before his death...

Norah Jones

This one was a tribute..

Side note Norah's performance was at the same place Chris  had his last performance.

Vote in the comments I will be back with a winner.

A Middle Age Rock and Roll Fairy Tale

The A to Z: Challenge ended and now my blog is back to it's regularly scheduled programming. Then again maybe not. It is about time I told you about some rocker who died. Maybe old rockers are taking a break from becoming deceased. Maybe young rockers are deciding the 27 Club is overrated. Well anyway our fairy tale begins in a restaurant owned by a rocker who can't drive 55..

Heart guitarist Ann Wilson married Music Executive Geoff Bywater, you can read the details here. I think it had to do with him being a Magic Man..

Now they are on their Honeymoon on the Sea of Love...

and they live happily ever after..or that's the way it is supposed to go. Hopefully they won't be eaten by Barracudas..

The End..
