R.I.P Howard Schnellenberger

 Howard Schnellenberger  earned his notoriety as the football coach who turned around a struggling Miami Hurricanes program to a National Champion. He also built the Florida Atlantic football program. In between he coached at Louisville and Oklahoma.

As an assistant with Bear Bryant he was the man responsible for Joe Namath to sign with Alabama. He was an assistant Coach with the Miami Dolphins during their undefeated season.   Those two things show he was connected to a couple of famous football moments before he was a head coach.

A local tribute  to the Coach... 

He will be missed by family, friends and fans.

Who will be shocked next? I don't mind the blemishes on my brackets because I love the upsets. It adds to the excitement and there is something about pulling for an underdog.

Football

Well this one will be brief. It looks like my fantasy football team will finally be back in the win column! I made a few moves to make up for some of my players who had a bye week.

I usually cover the Jacksonville Jaguars for Outside the Redzone but they were off this week. I also usually cover Georgia Tech but they were off. However, I did cover the Florida Gators at Vanderbilt Commodores football game. You can read my recap here.

Latest College Rankings

As my wife would say who is not an avid sports fan "let me guess there was an upset." Well, like every week there is one, or two or three. Notable upsets this year, in week one BYU over Oklahoma. In week two, the Houston Cougars over Oklahoma State was a pretty big upset.

Week three had plenty. The Washington Huskies over USC, FSU over SMU, and Oregon over Utah. Who will be weeks four upset or upsets? I don't know. If I did I would be moving to Las Vegas. Oh well, that is part of the fun of college football. Unless it is one of your favorite teams that gets upset or you are in Vegas betting on that can't lose game.
