Blogging from A to Z: Neptune Beach

Sometimes you can go back down nostalgia road on the internet. Here is a picture of my old school.



I went there for one year when it was first opened. The school and I both are not brand new anymore.

I just wanted to share different things. My parents live there. I know they have enjoyed taking their Granddaughter to the park and Beach. She might have even been told a story about my old school.

A to Z Challenge: Oceans

Above is a picture of the Atlantic Ocean taken by me a couple (probably a few) of years ago. Location Neptune Beach, Florida if anyone is wondering. The Oceans change constantly. They wash away things. Things crumble into them. Things wash up from them. Oceans get moody. Still something about oceans that are a constant for me.

Maybe the ocean is a parallel or a refection of my life, my dreams, and my existence. Don't our lives change constantly? Doesn't life wash up surprises on us? Don't we loose things in this journey?

I don't live on the beach but it is a very short drive. Funny thing is the area I am at is known for the white sands. The white sands are due to the Appalachian Mountains that have been reduced to sand. Ironically I moved here from an area in the Appalachians.

During my time away from not blogging. Honestly, I took a trip and certain tropical storm decided to go to the same place. I was at the beach this was by the river in Jacksonville. 

Luckily the only damage to where I was staying was a tree fell and brushed the house. It was like a 50 foot tree but the City of Neptune Beach responded quick. Here is a picture of the tree against the house..



Other than that it was typical debris thrown around. It did close the beach for a few days which was a bummer but better to be safe.

A to Z: Neptune Beach

Yes I will be putting up pictures from Wanee. However, I will post some pictures.The town outside of Jacksonville, I stayed in is Neptune Beach. Here is a view of the ocean:

The beach isn't as developed as it's neighbors with hotels and condos like Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach. However, there are beach front homes. Here is a view of some sand dunes, a home, and some palm trees.

Storm on my mind..

Where I am it is a typical August day, sunny temps in the mid 80's, they skies are clear but my mind is on people and places stuck in the path of Tropical Storm Fay. My parents live on the beach in North Florida. Fay, made it's third land fall just south of them and her northern bands are striking out where my parents live.

Thankfully my parents are all right. They did loose power for a while. They have lost some branches and palms from their trees. They like most people there are all right. According to my Dad, and I am sure he got the information from some local Jacksonville media outlet two people died from this storm. One person had an accident while messing with an emergency generator when the power went out. The other person was a tourist, who decided to go swimming with some buddies in he Ocean. One made it back, one made it to the hospital, and one died.

Hopefully, Fay will pass on bye. Hopefully further damage will be minimal from the winds, flood and rain. Hopefully, Fay will calm down and deliver her rain to the ones who really need it.
