R.I.P Hulk Hogan

 


Perhaps the biggest name in professional wrestling Hulk Hogan has passed away. Winning multiple championships over a 35-year career. The pro-wrestler of my generation.

Deadheads, friends, family and other musicians mourn his loss, but he did live long and enjoyed a long, strange trip of a life.

R.I.P Jerry Springer

 I was going to air my issues on the Jerry Springer show unfortunately it is too late. Jerry Springer has passed away at the age of 79. He was best known for his television show.

He was the mayor of Cincinnati from 1977 to 1978. He was a lawyer as well.

He also had a show called "Judge Jerry"

R.I.P David Crosby

 David Crosby a founder of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash has passed away at the age of 81. An important figure in the musical landscape of the 60s. He also had a solo career as well and a career that spanned into seven decades.

R.I.P Robbie Knievel

 


Above Robbie Knievel jumps 24 trucks. 


Robbie Knievel followed is legendary father's occupation as a motorcycle stuntman and daredevil. His dad being "Evel" Knievel. Robbie passed away at the age of 60, not from a jump gone bad but from cancer.

Like any comedian, actor or entertainer he wasn't for everyone. Appearing in many TV shows, movies and a stand-up comedy career one could not say he did not have a successful career. He will be missed by his family, friends and fans.

R.I.P Taylor Hawkins

 The drummer of the Foo Fighters has passed away at the age of 50. Confirmed by the band and numerous media reports. Cause of death hasn't been revealed. 

In this clip the Foo Fighters are joined by John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. Dave Grohl plays drum and Taylor gets to front the band on "Rock and Roll."

The news was shocking. I had fallen asleep earlier and woke up to the sad news. The drummer will be missed by fans, friends, his band and family may he rest in peace.

R.I.P Dusty Hill

 Dusty Hill was more than a bass player, he was a lead singer, a backing singer, a keyboardist, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, and one third of the legendary rock band ZZ Top! Joseph Michael Hill better known as Dusty will be missed by his family, his bandmates, fans and friends.


Today we celebrate his live, his musical career and  "I Want to Thank You" Mr. Hill...


They were blues they were rock and roll and at some point worked their way into the soundtrack of our lives.

R.I.P BJ Thomas

 I am sure I heard other songs on the radio, but one of the first I remember hearing was "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head."


Three years ago, much later than when I first her the song, I was able to see him life in a very small concert hall.

I left that song out when I wrote about seeing him on a Monday's Music Moves Me post, but someone said in the comments it was his favorite.

"Hooked on a Feeling" with Sara Niemietz. She is a talented singer who sang with him when she was 4.  Her post was how I heard the news.




The world lost a talented singer, songwriter may he rest in peace!

R.I.P Colt Brennan

Colt Brennon had a college career that showed glimpses to bright future. The pass happy quarterback set all kinds of records as a University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior. He lead them to a big Bowl, he was a Heisman Trophy finalist. 


Highlights from his college days..


He was drafted in the 6th round by the 
Washington Redskins. He stayed on the roster for a couple of seasons, bounced to another team, bounced to other leagues never catching on. Soon the former quarterback was out of football. In the real world he suffered from injuries from a car accident and battled a healthy dose of demons.
Sadly his life ended during mental health awareness month.

 Alex Trebek the longtime host of Jeopardy passed away at the age of 80 after battling cancer. He was nominated for 31 Daytime Emmy Awards for hosting the game show and won seven.

I bcame a pickup man earlier in this crazy month so I officially became a "Pickup Man."


Sadly Joe Diffie passed away due to COVID-19. Joe was Country Music hitmaker, a Grammy Award winning musician.

R.I.P Neil Peart


Opening up my tribute post with Neil Peart doing what he was known for, which was drumming.  This solo was from an appearance on the David Letterman Show in 2011.

In case you hadn't heard the news Neil Peart passed away from brain cancer at the age of 67. Neil was the drummer for Rush.

Neil Peart is regarded as being one of the top drummers in rock history.  He is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, named to Modern Drummer magazine Hall of Fame in 1983. In that magazine he has been named Best Rock Drummer 9 times. In Drum! magazine he was named drummer of the year 2007 through 2010. He will be missed by his family, bandmates, and fans.
