April Blogging from A to Z Challenge 2026: A is for the Adventure Begins

My trip began a few days earlier than April 1st. It was the grand adventure going to Belize to study crocodiles. The last time I travelled internationally was in another century, another time when a passport wasn't required and it consisted of walking across the border of California into Mexico. The anxiety hit me as a walked across the metal walkway towards the open door of the airplane.

Made my flight in the predawn hours to Atlanta. Where I caught my second flight to Belize City.

All was good until I landed. The form I had filled out earlier online disappeared somewhere in the interwebs. Then I had to fill out a paper for. The wifi connection on my phone was crap, I knew I had instructions on filling out the form but now it was lost. I winged it, they let me in and you know my anxiety needed to drop down via an ice-cold beer! My third flight was a prop plane to where I was staying. The final airport looked like something out of a Miami Vice Episode. There I was waiting outside waiting for my ride.

This is how my adventure began follow along as I rewind my adventure!

Enjoy your time in Blize! An adventure is always something to look forward to, but seriously are you on an adventure while tackling this challenge? I'm not doing A2Z again. I just can't seem to get back into the groove. However, I do have my Apr 1st BOTB up, if you care to voice in. Don't worry if you can't, either because you're busy with A2Z or your adventure. I just wanted you to know. Have awesome day, Mike!

Well they don't call it an adventure for nothing. Sounds stressful!

Well this sounds exciting! Is studying crocodiles work related or just an interest you have. I've never been to Belize. Thanks for visiting my blog and good luck with the A-Z!

Make sure you visit the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha. And, if you're feeling especially adventurous, head to Xunantunich.

To have the paperwork needing work in the MIDDLE of the trip - not at the start, where you can turn around and go home, and not at the end, when you may have some of the locals there to help you (they want those tourist $$$), but in the middle when you neither here nor there, that is rough.
