Fantasy Football Draft

Last year my draft was auto drafted since I had a work conflict. This year I drafted my players. I don't know if I did much better drafting my  team by myself. Picking out of the #11 slot (yuck) I managed to put together a solid team. The experts graded my draft a solid B and predicted me to make the playoffs with a 10-4 record.

I'll make some roster moves as the season goes on, I always do. It is all for fun anyhow. Maybe a little bragging right here or there. It's a way to keep in touch with some old friends and meet a few more. I don't think any of them live near me.

Do you play fantasy football? How do you think your team is going to do?

Fantasy Football Update

After three weeks of the NFL season I thought I would share an update on my fantasy football team. Week one I opened up with a huge win having the biggest blowout of the season. I followed that up with a solid win in week two.

Last week I had a big lead 50 points going into Monday night''s game. Then like a Hail Mary completion as time expires my team lost despite scoring the second highest point total of the season.

This week coming up I had to make adjustments. Since the New England Patriots have a week off I lost two starters. Tom Brady and the kicker. Last week I picked up Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles. He is a starting quarterback and ac couple of starters had gone down for injuries. I picked him up mainly to take another starter off the board. This week I will turn to him. This week I picked up Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould as a replacement.

I am also starting Jacksonville WR Allen Hurns this week another pick up. So far  this season I have picked up Bortles, Hurns and Gould. I gave up David Cobb who is on injured reserves, Robert Griffin III who isn't starting, and Charles Johnson who hasn't been very productive.

As different players become available I will certainly look for an upgrade or two.

How is your team doing?

Fantasy Football: The Undrafted

The fantasy football league that I participate had their draft yesterday. Unfortunately I was at work. My undrafted team didn't turn out too badly. Blaring weakness were Wide Receivers and besides one beastly running back I am thin there too.

I'm solid at quarterback. My strength is tight ends. I have a trio that I hope will keep me in the match ups.

Yahoo! graded my draft as a B-. As the season moves on I am sure I will make some moves. I have one pending as we speak. Should be a challenge this year.

Anyone else play fantasy football? How was your draft? Do you like your team?

Is everyone ready for some football?

Fantasy Football: Still in second place after crushing lost

I scored seven points more than the week before. Yahoo gave me an A- grade for the week. I still lost, 179-144. Last Thursday I thought I might be in trouble when my opponents defense scored 29 points on Thursday night.

Little things getting outscored 50-21 on kickers and defense didn't help my cause.

If the Green Bay Packers didn't hurt me there were other places I went wrong. I waived an injured Shorts for Stanton as Carson Palmer did not return. That netted me 3 points and Tom Brady came alive for 22 points.

Back at it for another week. You win some, loose some.

Fantasy Football: Back with a win

A win is a win even if it only by two points. My team won 137-135.

How did my moves workout?

I mentined some moves I was making this week. Like the Miami Dolphins did in the past I too gave up Chad Henne for Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill produced 22 points for me. Chad Henne watched a rookie play.

I benched Chris Johnson and of course he produced a respectable 10 points. I moved Sproles to running back and went with Floyd in the flex. Floyd gave me 10 points. I was going to go with  Harry Douglas  but I didn't and Douglas did not place.

Duds

Dud of the week from my team DeSean Jackson one point. Cecil Shorts only produced three points thanks to injury. Tom Brady only six points.

This week moves...

Well Tannehill has a bye this week so I have to hope Carson Palmer plays. It looks like Shorts is out this week so I moved Malcolm Floyd to a receiver slot. which means I pull Chris Johnson in the flex spot. Of course it is early in the week..

Fantasy Football 2-1 start

I'm playing Fantasy Football again this season. I was awarded a B on my draft.

I romped through the opener 171-112. Week two hello injuries. I won 142-116. However, with Carson Palmer I went with Chad Henne which netted me one point. DeSean Jackson was injured and only managed one point. Jordy Nelson and his 50 point day helped me to victory.

Week three I lost 125-117. I benched Jackson who had the injury and he scored 16 points, higher than any of my other receivers. Palmer was still out and Henne lost me 2 points. Chris Johnson at running back really started to fade.

Well it is a new week. I have replaced Henne with Ryan Tannehill. Hopefully Carson Palmer returns after his bye week.

Here is a highlight for Henne when he played for the Miami Dolphins:

I will probably bench Johnson this week and move Sproles from the flex position and start either Floyd or Douglas in the flex. Fell from first to third last week so I am trying to bounce back.

Fantasy Football: My Team is in the Playoffs

My fantasy football team won for the second week in a row clinching a playoff spot. The game that lead my team to victory was a game most NFL fans this season don't care about, the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Cleveland Browns.

One of my wide receivers is Jacksonville's Cecil Shorts...

Cleveland's Josh Gordon another receiver I had a monster game catching 10 passes for 261 yards! Here he is on a big catch from last year.

Gordon has two 200 plus yard games back to back and my fantasy team thanks him! Well I have one week until the playoffs.

My Fantasy Team Got Crushed

It was ugly my fantasy football team was crushed 160 to 84. My team was on a good run and had won several straight. The loss drops me to 5-4 and fourth place.

It didn't help that Nick Foles had a season for the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished with 48 points. My quarterbacks finished collectively with 4. Foles had a record game tossing seven touchdown strikes,

Oh well there is always next week.

fantasy football finally a win

After losing in week one and two my fantasy football team finally won. In a 12 team league I sit in eighth which is better than the cellar. Ironic as it I have the most points in the league. That is great for tiebreakers. However in match ups it is all about when you get the points. If I win this week I will be back in the hunt.I thought for a while I was becoming the Jaguars of my fantasy league.

December Football Post Number 2

A little delayed since I was busy with the holidays. However, none the less  I have written some new football related articles since my last football post and I wil give you update on my fantasy football team.

Fantasy Football

My fantasy football team did not make the playoffs. So, the next best thing is to win the consolation round. Not only did I step away from my blog due t the holidays I also stepped away from my fantasy team. My lineup was what it was. I did not make any moves or change anything. My team won anyway. Now if they would have won the previous week I would havebeen in the playoffs. Oh well that is life and my team survives to play one more week.

NFL

Okay the team I cover for Outside the Redzone, the Jacksonville Jaguars are having an awful season. However, they did play the New England Patriots and the score was closer than most folks expected. You can read my recap here.

NCAA

Bowl season is here! I wriote an article about place to watch the bowl games around me. A Football Post

Another week another death in the NFL. This time due to an alcohol related accident. Sad, a taxi ride or a designated driver could have saved a life.

Fantasy Football

Speaking of sad my streaky fantasy football team lost this week. So I missed the playoffs. I just needed a win or tie to advance. Oh well bring on the consolation round. How did you do in your league?

College Football

No recaps this week since there was only the Army Navy game on tap. Here is my final regular season rankings, Do you agree or disagree? So it has been two weeks without a college football recap. The Gators did not play. Georgia Tech lost to FSU so the Florida State cover person got the recap. I am a team player you can read their recap here.

NFL

Well the Jacksonville Jaguars dropped their last two. First the Buffalo Bills crushed them 34-18, you can read that recap here. Last week the Jaguars played the New York Jets close but lost 17-10. You can read that recap here.

Mixing it up this month a little football, to go with all the death notices, birthdays, and other stuff. I'll be back with a new post soon. Will have some theater ones coming up.

Last Football Post of October

The end is near.well I hope not with Sandy on the way. However, this is the last football blog post for October. I think I can restrain myself from posting on the subject before the end of the month. Hopefully, the weather will come thru and clear out with out any problems.

Fantasy Football

My team is well on it's way to winning this week.My team could have beaten any team in the league this week which feels better than knowing every team can beat your team. So, I should work my way back in the pack as I even my season record out. It has been fun, since I have been forced to make a lot more moves than I generally do so it isn't all bad.

NFL

I cover the Jacksonville Jaguars and they aren't that good. They did play better today and kept it close with Green Bay. You can read my recap here.

College Football

You can read my new college football rankings here. I have been putting a new poll in the article letting people pick who they think is number one. Thanks for those who participated last week.

It stinks when the team you cover is the team you root for and they lose. Well that happened to me with the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs. You can read my recap here.I will give Georgia credit the stepped up to the challenge and won the game. Sloppy game for both teams. Here are some highlights from that game:

Then I also covered the BYU-Georgia Tech game. The Cougars beat the Yellow Jackets and you can read my recap here. Here are some highlights from that game...

What a weekend for football all the teams I cover lost. At least there was baseball! Stay safe if you are near the storms and as long as the power is working I will be back with a new post soon!
