Fantasy Football: Back with a win

A win is a win even if it only by two points. My team won 137-135.

How did my moves workout?

I mentined some moves I was making this week. Like the Miami Dolphins did in the past I too gave up Chad Henne for Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill produced 22 points for me. Chad Henne watched a rookie play.

I benched Chris Johnson and of course he produced a respectable 10 points. I moved Sproles to running back and went with Floyd in the flex. Floyd gave me 10 points. I was going to go with  Harry Douglas  but I didn't and Douglas did not place.

Duds

Dud of the week from my team DeSean Jackson one point. Cecil Shorts only produced three points thanks to injury. Tom Brady only six points.

This week moves...

Well Tannehill has a bye this week so I have to hope Carson Palmer plays. It looks like Shorts is out this week so I moved Malcolm Floyd to a receiver slot. which means I pull Chris Johnson in the flex spot. Of course it is early in the week..

Thoughts on the End of Baseball Season

Major League Baseball saved some greatness for the final day of the season. The Oakland A's edged out the Seattle Mariners for a wild cart spot, Jordan Zimmerman pitched a no hitter for the Washington Nationals.

No team won 100 games or more and no team lost 100 games. 15 teams had winning records.

Derek Jeter

Derek Jeter the Captain for the New York Yankees calls it a career. His .310 career batting average and 3465 hits make a compelling argument for the Hall of Fame. Add being a 14-time All Star, five World Series Championship,  and World Series MVP and they may want to make some room in Cooperstown.

Paul Konerko

Paul Konerko the Captain for the Chicago White Sox calls it a career too! A six time All Star with a .279 career average and 439 home runs. Might not make it to the Hall of Fame but will be remembered along with other White Sox greats.

Post Season

The Pittsburgh Pirates are in the Wild Card. A beautiful stadium, western Pennsylvania in the Fall, and baseball! That is something to enjoy. The Kansas City Royals are in the Wild Card in the American League it has been a long time for both these teams.

The post season where Spring Training dreams live on for ten teams.

Into the Wild real ending

Into the Wild is a book and a movie that has been on my radar for a while. I just haven't picked up the book or watched the movie. Jon Krakauer wrote the book about Chris McCandless who gave up the material world to go live out in the wilderness. Chris died and the coroner's report stated his death was probably due to starvation.

In his book Jon had another theory. However, he may have been slightly off and in a recent article in The New Yorker a student may have discovered what really happened. I encourage you to read the article here I found it to be quite fascinating.

Earlier in the week my Mom had posted something about a guy foraging the wilds in Sweden for food. My thought was caution. Where I live there are creatures that can be lethal if you are not careful, insects that can make you itch, and I am sure some plants can do that too! So, I thought it was funny that later in the week I found this article.

The article was such a great read it made me want to read his book even more. The trailer for the movie looks like a grand adventure but the reality of his death was a slow torture.

Here is a 20/20 segment..

Thanks for visiting, I'll be back soon with a new post.

Fantasy Football 2-1 start

I'm playing Fantasy Football again this season. I was awarded a B on my draft.

I romped through the opener 171-112. Week two hello injuries. I won 142-116. However, with Carson Palmer I went with Chad Henne which netted me one point. DeSean Jackson was injured and only managed one point. Jordy Nelson and his 50 point day helped me to victory.

Week three I lost 125-117. I benched Jackson who had the injury and he scored 16 points, higher than any of my other receivers. Palmer was still out and Henne lost me 2 points. Chris Johnson at running back really started to fade.

Well it is a new week. I have replaced Henne with Ryan Tannehill. Hopefully Carson Palmer returns after his bye week.

Here is a highlight for Henne when he played for the Miami Dolphins:

I will probably bench Johnson this week and move Sproles from the flex position and start either Floyd or Douglas in the flex. Fell from first to third last week so I am trying to bounce back.

Happy Birthday to The Boss

When I was visiting my friend at Jazz Fest he gave me a hard time for not coming back to see Bruce Springsteen. An artist I have never seen in concert. The truth behold I would have loved to gone to Jazz Fest for more than one day this year. My friend insists Bruce would have blown me away in concert. However, I had work and family commitments  that created scheduling impossibilities. Not a curse a blessing. No job, no family isn't great either.

However, Springsteen has never been a must see act to me. I enjoy his music in small doses. He is a great songwriter, has a loyal following, and in rock music is a living legend. Not taking away from him. In fact today I am celebrating his birthday!

As you would expect..

He is creative enough to cover the unexpected..

His song..

Happy Birthday to the Boss! What's your favorite Bruce song?
