This blog spot is the home to my ramblings. I am a free lance writer. Most of my work goes on Associated Content. Sometimes I write what is on my mind, sometimes I plug some of my writing, and sometimes a combination of the two. So, sit back read, enjoy, and we will see where it goes.
Yannick Noah had plenty of victories as a professional tennis player. I'm sure he cheered for his son Joakim Noah in the NBA. Despite having a number one single on the French Charts and several number one albums in France I don't think he thought of outdoing Stevie Wonder.
However in my Battle of the Bands 101 Yannick beat Stevie 7 votes to 2.
"La Voix Des Sages"
"Angela"

I will be back with a new battle on March 1st stay tuned!
It is hard to believe I haven't used a Bob Marley song in my Battles of the Band. It kind of fits that I would celebrate an African musician on one post and move onto a Reggae giant in the next. Black History Month International Music version if you will.
The song I am choosing is Bob Marley's Redemption Song. This ne is just for reference and your enjoyment.
Contender One: Yannick Noah
Contender Two: Stevie Wonder
Yannick or Stevie you decide who wins with your votes in the comments. Both artists provide covers that are different from the original and different from each other. I'll count of the votes and post a winner in a week or so. Thanks for visiting and come back soon!
The 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees includes Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Journey, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra, Joan Baez, and Niles Rodgers will be given an Award fr Musical Excellence.
The selections are always controversial since there are always deserving groups that don't get voted in. I know I can name quite a few and I'm sure you may know a few. If you want to share who you felt got snubbed the comments are always open.
Today the focus is on who was selected! We start off with a band that I saw this year Pearl Jam. My journey to see them made my A to Z post here.
Pearl Jam
Tupac Shakur
The artist has sold over 75 million albums sand Rolling Stone magazine lists him among the top 100 Artist.
Journey
This band has sold over 90 million albums and is a staple on classic rock radio,
Yes
A progressive rock band. Which had some radio success..
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
Another classic rock band.
Joan Baez
A folky songwriter.
Niles Rodgers
I became aware of Nile Rodgers through his work with Jeff Beck. I am sure I heard of Chic before then but did not put the name together until later. He has worked with a ton of big name artists from Daft Punk, Diana Ross, David Lee Roth, Duran Duran, Madonna and more.
This captures the magic,,Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder and Niles..
What do you think of the selections? I will be back soon with a new post.
Today is Sting's birthday. Sting was the vocalist and bass player for the Police and also an accomplished solo artist as well. Besides singing and playing bass Sting plays other instruments as well. Sting has won 16 Grammy Awards and 25 American Music Awards, an Emmy and is a Kennedy Center Honoree.
So lets jump in and celebrate the 64 year old's music!
Starting off with The Police with "Every Breathe You Take"..
Here is Sting celebrating his 60th Birthday with Stevie Wonder performing "Brand New Day"..
Here is Sting with Eric Clapton with the song "It's Probably Me"..
Here he performs "Fields of Gold"...
The Police with "Can't Stand Losing You"..
Happy Birthday Sting! Thanks for visiting and I will be back soon with a new post!
Paul McCartney turns 73 today so I wish him a Happy Birthday. His fame will always be linked to the super group of his youth the Beatles. He has had an amazing career with Wings and as a solo artist as well.
I am amazed by his collaborations they are hardly predictable.
Here he performs with Rihanna and Kayne West...
"Say, Say, Say" with Michael Jackson...
The classic "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder..
"My Valentine" featuring jazz artist Diana Krall and guitarist Joe Walsh..
Certainly it would be easy to celebrate his birthday with a bunch of solo hits or a collection spanning his career. However, I thought today the collaborations would be a nice way to celebrate.
May 13th is Stevie Wonder's birthday. Hard to believe I haven't celebrated his birthday before on the blog. Winning 25 Grammy Awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award would suggest Little Stevie Wonder has had a successful career. He has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has received the Medal of Freedom.
A legendary musician and a great person. Of course in this blog we like to celebrate the music.
Here is a song which Stevie Wonder wrote the music (with some other musicians) and Smokey Robinson penned some lyrics..."Tears of a Clown"
Anybody who follows this blog knows Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist and here he is with Stevie Wonder performing "Superstitious"..
Here is Stevie with Paul McCartney performing "Ebony and Ivory"
One of my favorite songs by Stevie Wonder is "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours"
With Stevie Wonder I could post song after song. I could put more collaborations with more artists I like in case Smokey Robinson, Jeff Beck, and Paul McCartney weren't enough. I could just put up his songs and they would be fantastic. To me that is a great artist and I wish him a happy birthday!
Paul McCartney of the Beatles turns 71 today. Amazingly I heard a great guitarist perform a medley of Beatles' tunes last night. Paul has had an incredible career with The Beatles, with Wings, and as a solo artist. In reason years he has even tried to stay current with modern music.
Here Sir Paul performs with Nirvana...
It isn't the first time here Mr. McCartney performs with Michael Jackson...
and who can forget this duet with Stevie Wonder..
Here he is with The Bloody Beetroots...
I'm leaving out friends he has performed with to do covers of old songs. Just for his birthday celebrating Paul McCartney and friends...
