Bob Dylan songs same to get a live of their own. He has been covered by The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses, The Who, Robert Plant, and many more. So picking a gem like "Stuck inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" would certainly give me some options.

Interesting battle! I wasn't familiar with the song but I think the cover artists improved on it. ☺ Of the two, I preferred Cat Power's vocals.

Well, I'm not a Dylan fan and it's funny how both imitated his style but I am going with the guy. He seemed, should I say it, less irritating than the gal.

ReplyDeleteI've been a Dylan fan for a long time, and this is one of his many songs that I like a great deal. Maybe even a Top 10 Dylan song for me.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, the singer for the first group quickly reminded me of Eddie Vedder. I've always thought Vedder sounded very *wrong* - like he's singing everything flat. Same thing with this guy. Flatter than my third grade girlfriend.
CAT POWER was a big improvement.

ReplyDeleteDylan's voice is truly distinctive, if not terribly melodic. Whereas the first contender seemed stymied by a lack of buoyancy, Cat Power tried too hard to sound like Dylan. But it worked! Another vote for Cat Power, please.

I decided to go back and relisten...So my vote was going to be Cat Power again and then I thought, No, if I was to listen to either again I think I would pick North Mississippi All Stars. So that's my vote: North Mississippi All Stars
