Anyway his song "Tulsa Time"
Contestant Two: Eric Clapton
Wrapping up this post on my phone. Keeping it simple. Vote for either Eric or Reba in the comments. I will count up the votes and pick a winner soon.
This blog spot is the home to my ramblings. I am a free lance writer. Most of my work goes on Associated Content. Sometimes I write what is on my mind, sometimes I plug some of my writing, and sometimes a combination of the two. So, sit back read, enjoy, and we will see where it goes.
This is a song that I've heard of and heard played for years, but for some reason it's never quite registered in my memory if I'd try to recall it. Then I hear it and think, "oh yeah, that's how it goes" and then I will forget it soon after hearing it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard Clapton's version before and it's good. He rocks it.
In the final analysis I'm going to cast my vote for Reba. I just prefer her vocals and the tempo better. Clapton is too frantic--too fifties rock and roll.
I vote for Reba.

Tossing It Out
You fooled me, MIKE! I predicted ahead of time that you'd use a Tom Petty song to mark his recent passing.
ReplyDeleteBut this is a great song with excellent contestants.
More times than not, I prefer male vocalists, but in this case, REBA's guttural touches and high energy win me over Slowhand. One vote for that Country firecracker from me.

STMcC Presents 'Battle Of The Bands'
I fooled myself and actually picked this one in advanced and had it ready to go since September.
DeleteI honestly thought I would be giving my vote to Reba. After listening to both versions, I definitely am more drawn to the Eric Clapton version. Reba's version seems to be just a bit slower, and Clapton's rocks! My vote: Eric Clapton
ReplyDeleteEric Clapton by a long shot.
ReplyDeleteMike,
ReplyDeleteJudging by the two contenders I figured I'd vote for Clapton but wound up liking Reba better. Great battle! Thanks for joining the 4M gals this morning on the dance floor. Have a great week, my friend!
I vote for Reba because she brings it!
ReplyDeleteLove,

This is a great song and you picked two great contenders. I like both of them! I love how Clapton's version starts out all slow and mysterious, leaving the listener wondering what was coming and then BAM, he hits it! Great instrumentation and a real toe-tapper for sure.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Reba's version is a tad slower, the music still cooks and her vocals rock.
I'm kinda torn actually, but I think I'll throw my vote over to Reba for this one. But just know I could've just as easily tossed my vote to Clapton.
Will be interesting to see how this one shakes out.
Good battle Mike.

I was fully expecting to choose Eric Clapton as soon as I heard the piano but then it just started to so7nd a bit repetitive to me and, even though it’s good, it didn’t do much. I actually choose Reba even though it has a more co7ntry flair rather than a blues flair. I like her style of s8nging this song so I go with her.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of like everyone else: I went in thinking I'd like Slowhand better but like Reba's read on this tune better than his, so I'll go with hers.
ReplyDeleteI am voting REBA on this one. Hard to believe she outrocked the rock master, Clapton, but she did. Outstanding contest!
ReplyDelete"I love it when a plan comes together!"
