This month's battle of the bands comes from The Grateful Dead. The song "Box of Rain" chosen due to the passing of bassist and founding member Phil Lesh last month. My tribute post is here.
The song was written and sung by Phil Lesh lyrics by Robert Hunter. The content was about his Dad's passing.

Corgan's version was kind of interesting. Maybe something I'd want to listen to at some other time. The Phish video was kind of annoying to listen to, but I liked their arrangement better so my vote goes to them.

ReplyDeleteTrey's voice and guitar get this vote. I did not care for Billy Corgan's voice on this track, and prefer guitar-driven to piano-forward on this song. ~Ed.
A lot of musicians have died, it seems. Even though the sound quality isn't great, I'm choosing the first one. The 2nd one is too whiny for me.
