Today's letter is S and instead of going with a snake for my reptile which would be easy I am going with the Snapping Turtle.

Snapping turtles eat plants too! They are scavengers and hunters as well.
We are coming to the home stretch of the challenge and I have shared crocodiles, lizards, snakes and turtles. I have a few ore so stay tuned!
I have seen my fair share of these guys. Once, I saw one crossing our lawn and I took a branch and placed it in front of his nose, he snapped that twig like I eat a sandwich! He was go8ng to cross the highway so when he got to the road, I picked him up and brought him across. He was just trying to get to my fingers. You took a couple more great pics.

ReplyDeleteTurtles are so cool. Decades ago I rode a giant turtle in South Dakota, and had an opportunity to watch green sea turtles on Punaluu Black Sand Beach on the Big Island, but would definitely stay away from a snapping turtle.

ReplyDeleteMy parents' neighbor when I was a little girl would go fishing at night frequently. It seems he caught a lot of catfish but one night he got a snapping turtle and I got a chance to see that critter first hand. It was rather big and kind of vicious. I was too afraid to get very close which was probably a smart thing.

I don't think I've ever seen a snapping turtle but they look cute.
