A very sad and powerful song. I shall give it to The Lancer band because I prefer the soulful style of group and the girl's voice is perfect for this song. Just a non-stop terror ride.

The Lancer Band was no doubt easier on the ears. Her voice was beautiful in a stark contrast to the lyrics.

The Herd attempted to do something different with the song by making it hip hop in the beginning and more traditional in the end. I preferred the end, though I don't think the hip hop (aka talking) stuff was terrible. In fact, it wasn't bad at all. It just wasn't as good as the first one (which was stellar).

So, I'm not able to end what looks like a shut-out here. However, I do think this song was very moving and a good choice to honor Veterans Day. Just saying...

I liked and appreciated this song and both worthy contestants in the battle. I vote for The Lancer Band for two reasons. I love the clarity and purity of the female lead vocal. At the same time, I did not like the second version quite as much because it was rendered in a rap style which did not evoke the same feelings as the first.

I would like to keep coming here and supporting your band battles, Mike. I respectfully ask you to be a good friend, follow my blog more closely and take part in my battles when they are presented. Thanks, Mike! Love your theme idea, also.
When I read "The Herd" initially, Peter Frampton's first band from the 60s came to mind, but obviously not, if it's "Hip Hop". ☺ While this isn't my favourite genre, it wasn't bad.
